Ed Skrein is showing his villainous side!

The 35-year-old actor will play the villain in the upcoming sequel to Disney’s Maleficent, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Tuesday (April 17).

Ed also played a villain in 2016′s Deadpool. He will again play a villain in Alita: Battle Angel.

Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning will return for the next installment, which follows the 2014 smash hit original. The plot for the film is not yet known, however. The movie also doesn’t have a release date yet.

Joachim Ronning will direct the movie.

Angelina Jolie will be reprising the role of Maleficent in an upcoming sequel and the film’s director was just revealed!

Joachim Ronning is in talks to direct the movie. He previously helmed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, so he’s already part of the Disney family.

The plot for the film has not yet been revealed. Production is set to begin in the first quarter of 2018, according to Deadline.

The first Maleficent movie made $758.5 million worldwide during its run in theaters. We can’t wait for the second!

Angelina Jolie Pitt is officially returning to star as the villainous Maleficent in the sequel to the 2014 film.

It was announced that the actress would be returning months ago, but the news was just confirmed by Disney as they announced a whole slate of upcoming movies.

Disney has staked out several release dates including July 28, 2017, April 6, 2018, August 3, 2018, December 25, 2018, and December 20, 2019. It is not officially known when Maleficent 2 will be released, though IMDB has May 9, 2017 listed.

Also returning to the Maleficent franchise is Linda Woolverton, who wrote the script for the first film and will take on the duties again.

The studio is looking at having the 40-year-old actress reprise her role as the title character and considering Linda Woolverton as the writer for the sequel.

It is not a big surprise that Disney wants to make a sequel, since the original film grossed close to $760 million worldwide last year.

Angelina Jolie looks stunning in a strapless black dress while attending the premiere of her latest film Maleficent held at Ebisu Garden Place on Monday (June 23) in Tokyo, Japan.

The 38-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-star Elle Fanning as they both happily took time to sign autographs and take photos with the large crowd of fans.

The film, which also stars Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, and Juno Temple, finally hits theaters in Japan on July 5!

50 Cent made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday evening (June 5) and debuted a hilarious clip of him spoofing Angelina Jolie‘s hit film Maleficent.

The 38-year-old rapper told the audience he had a big new project. “This one ain’t going to no Redbox,” he said. Jimmy then introduced the clip, which is set up exactly as if the audience is about to watch a Maleficent clip, until all of a sudden, 50 appears in full Maleficent costume!

“I’ve been shot 9 times, I’m not afraid of no white girl,” 50 said to Elle Fanning‘s Aurora upon making an appearance as Maleficent.

The title is then revealed as MaleFiftyCent. LOL!
