Josh Hutcherson Reveals Where He Thinks Peeta & Katniss Would Be Now

Josh Hutcherson is sharing his thoughts on where his The Hunger Games character would be now!

The 27-year-old actor played Peeta in the film adaptations of the book series alongside Jennifer Lawrence as the heroine Katniss.

“It’s funny. ‘Cause we actually spitballed about [where the characters would end up] on set one day,” Josh told Us Weekly. “We were sort of talking about like … the Hunger Games and Peeta and Katniss are older and they have a kid and then the movie ends, but then what if we pick up the story and it’s like 10 years later and there’s a new rebellion that has to happen or something like that ended up.”

“I’d like to hope and think that they are living happily and that the world is equal and lovely. But history is doomed to repeat itself,” he added. “So I feel like there might be some more unrest that would come along.”

Josh recently opened up about meeting up with Jennifer during the quarantine.

'Hunger Games' Prequel Based on President Snow Sparks Fan Outrage

The Hunger Games is preparing to reveal a prequel series – and some fans don’t exactly seem thrilled.

The successful Suzanne Collins franchise is getting a prequel series based on President Snow, the president of Panem, called The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes out in May, and an excerpt was revealed on Tuesday (January 21).

The passage takes place 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games trilogy, in which he is an 18-year-old student mentoring a boy or girl who will fight in the games.

The excerpt was met with sharp criticism from fans online on social media.

“you’re telling me I waited YEARS for a new hunger games book just for it to be a president snow origin story,” one viral tweet read.

Suzanne Collins really made us watch as president snow killed off some of our favourite characters in the hunger games series and expect me to now read the back story of a man who I’m glad is dead,” another read.

“You mean to tell me … I’ve waited years and preordered the Hunger Games sequel for it to be a President Snow origin story … about a rich white boy becoming an authoritarian who loves *checks notes* genocide?” added another fan.

The novel is said to be set in the world of Panem, 64 years before the events of the original “Hunger Games” trilogy on the morning of the reaping of the 10th Hunger Games.

As fans of the novel know, the eventual winner of the games was Griffin Naysmith from District 2.

Suzanne shared about returning with a new book, “I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival. The reconstruction period ten years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days—as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet—provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.”

It also seems there will be a movie tied to the book, as well.

Joe Drake
, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, shared that “we’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.”
