Tracee Ellis Ross‘ outfit is not slowing her down!

The 46-year-old actress was all smiles as she went for a bike ride in a green-plaid dress and yellow heels on Monday afternoon (October 14) in New York City.

Earlier that day, Tracee joined black-ish co-stars Anthony Anderson and Marsai Martin for an interview on Good Morning America.

The night before, the cast stepped out to promote the season six of their show during a PaleyFest panel discussion.

Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson hug it out while stepping out for the black-ish: Live Panel hosted by PaleyFest on Sunday (October 12) at the The Paley Center for Media in New York City.

The co-stars were joined by fellow cast members Lawrence Fisburne, Marcus Scribner, Marsai Martin, and Miles Brown as they promoted season six of their hit show.

Here’s what the 46-year-old Black-ish actress had to say…

On her new venture, Pattern Beauty, a haircare line, and how it is very much inspired by her own personal relationship with beauty: “I went through those teenage years when everybody is searching to figure out who they are and all of a sudden become so aware of how they look, how they are seen, what’s cool, what’s in…sadly, there were not a ton of images, outside of my family, of people who looked like me.”

On her realization that women of color have subliminally been told that their hair type was undesirable: “Oh, there was no ‘eureka’ moment. When I was going through all of that I didn’t have an understanding of the larger cultural context; I didn’t understand that the culture of beauty and the industry of beauty was actually specifically leaving me out and not celebrating me.”

On how her brand has been 10 years in the making and the journey it’s taken her on: “That has been fraught with many disappointments, me running up against many of the things that were exactly what made me feel bad about myself. People saying to me: ‘You don’t have the credibility to do this, you need to partner with a professional,’ and me attempting to explain that I, like many women of color and people with curly hair, have become our best experts because the industry has not supported us.”

The 46-year-old Golden Globe-winning actress and Arica were joined at the event by Grown-ish stars Chloe and Halle Bailey, Francia Raisa, Trevor Jackson, Jordan Buhat and Jeff Meacham, as well as Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, Laurence Fishburne, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Peter Mackenzie and Peter Saji.

Also in attendance were Arica‘s mixed-ish cast mates Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tika Sumpter, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Ethan William Childress and Christina Anthony.

Here’s what the 46-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On being relatable to fans: “The truth is, I’m glad they can identify with me, because I identify with them. I feel like we are a community of sisters out here. That kind of makes me cry a little bit, because we are a community of sisters told by mainstream society that we are not the thing, and I know I’ve had to make my own way through that messaging. I look out and see other sisters and think, I see you. Do you see me? Because I see you.”

On feeling like giving up in Hollywood: “There were moments of that. I really thought when Girlfriends finished that the pearly gates of Hollywood were going to open, and they were going to be like, ‘What movie would you like, ma’am? Please, choose whatever.’ That did not happen. It forced my soul to continue to search for what it longed for, dreamed of, wanted to be.”

On when she knew Black was beautiful: “It took me way longer than I wish it had. I’d catch glimpses of people who saw beauty in ways I had missed because of the blinders society gave me. Then one day I was watching a Nina Simone documentary and I thought: Wait. It should be her name next to the word ‘beauty.’ Why was I sold the wrong vision? My heart knows that’s beauty.”

Tracee Ellis Ross got nothing but support at the launch of her brand Pattern Beauty line held on (September 8) at a private location in Los Angeles.

The Golden Globe-winning actress got support from her siblings Evan Ross and his wife Ashlee Simpson, brother Ross Naess and his wife Kimberly Ryan, as well as pregnant sister Chudney Ross and her husband Joshua Faulkner at the event. Guests enjoyed Casamigos Tequila and Mezcal.

Also in attendance to show their support were Lena Waithe, A Black Lady Sketch Show star Robin Thede, Pose‘s MJ Rodriguez and Tracee’s Mixed-ish stars Arica Himmel, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Ethan Childress.

Patten was 10 years in the making,” Tracee Ellis Ross told Marie Claire about the hairline. “I wrote my first brand pitch in 2008 when Girlfriends finished. It’s taken me that long because the gatekeepers and decision-makers of the beauty world did not understand the magnitude, importance, beauty, breath, and consumer dollars of the curl community. They wondered why anyone would want products from me. The pitch and hair products I wanted to create then are the same now. The difference is now I apparently have credibility. This is made from the heart of a woman who is honored to be a part of this community. This is 20 years of dreaming, digging in my hair, and thinking about what I was longing for.”

Earlier in the week, Tracee Ellis Ross stopped by The Daily Show with Trevor Noah to promote her Pattern Beauty launch.

The Golden Globe-winning actress talked about the upcoming Black-ish spin-off series, mixed-ish, which she executive produced.

“I think the things we go through as human beings can be really funny. mixed-ish is the story of how I came to be as Rainbow Johnson, but it’s the story of a fish out of water, which all of us experience in many different ways,” Tracee expressed.

“I think the beauty of it is that when you’re telling a mixed story is that you have these two different experiences, two different heritages, two different worlds,” Tracee continued. “How do you within that world define yourself? I think a lot of us experience that weather you have two different races or heritages that you come from – but when you feel other than.”

Tracee Ellis Ross also talked about the launch of her hair care brand, Pattern Beauty, which she also promoted on Good Morning America that same morning.
