Tom Girardi, the estranged husband of Erika Jayne, has been placed under a permanent conservatorship.
On Thursday (June 10), the 82-year-old lawyer appeared at a hearing in the Los Angeles Superior Court where his brother, Robert, was officially made the conservator over Tom‘s person and estate.
After the judge made his decision, Tom released a statement about the situation.

A new documentary will be exploring Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi‘s marriage and legal issues.
ABC News Originals released the teaser trailer for the upcoming doc, titled The Housewife and The Hustler, which will be released on Hulu on June 14.
The documentary will feature legal experts exploring embezzlement accusations against the 81-year-old lawyer, which all came to light last November shortly after the 49-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star filed for divorce after 21 years of marriage.
“Tom Girardi was L.A. law — so powerful,” one legal expert says in the teaser, as another interviewee adds, “They were just blowing money left and right, but then…”
News clips then start to roll, accusing Tom and Erika of staging their divorce to allegedly embezzle money that was supposed to go to families who lost loved ones in a 2018 Boeing plane crash.
“I think the biggest question is: Did she know?” comedian Heather McDonald questions in the teaser.
According to ABC News, The Housewife and The Hustler will also include voicemail messages, court records, and a never-before-aired deposition tape of Tom.
In the new season of RHOBH, which is currently airing on Wednesday nights on Bravo, Erika‘s marriage and legal woes will be taking center stage.

Sutton Stracke is issuing an apology to her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star Crystal Kung Minkoff.
The pair shared a heated exchange on the latest episode of the long-running reality TV show on Wednesday (May 26).
During the episode, Crystal, who is RHOBH‘s first Asian American cast member, opened up about her experiences with racial stereotyping.
When Sutton responded by saying “I’m not doing this” and “I am not talking about racial stereotypes”, Crystal pointed out that it may be “easy” for her to avoid the topic because she’s a white woman.
Sutton then brought up stereotypes she has faced as a person from the south, leading Crystal to ask, “Are you one of those people that you don’t see color? Tell me you’re not that girl.”
Sutton took to social media to publicly apologize for her comments on the show.

On Wednesday (May 19), the Bravo reality show returned for its season 11 premiere, and only hinted at what’s to come for the 49-year-old star.
If you forgot, Erika filed for divorce from husband Tom Girardi back in November 2020 after 21 years of marriage, claiming that he was cheating on her.
Shortly after the filing, Erika and the 81-year-old lawyer were sued for allegedly faking their divorce to embezzle money that was supposed to go to families who lost loved ones in a 2018 Boeing plane crash.
