Manhattan DA Obtains Donald Trump's Tax Records

There is a new development regarding Donald Trump‘s tax records.

The former President of the United States’ records were obtained by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office following a subpoena for the documents, CBS reported Thursday (February 25).

Danny Frost, a spokesman for District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., confirmed that prosecutors obtained the tax records on Monday (February 22), the same day the Supreme Court rejected the former President’s effort to block prosecutors from obtaining them.

Trump accused prosecutors of a “fishing expedition.”

The DA’s office began investigating his business dealings in 2018, which initially focused on hush-money payments made to women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump. Court filings indicate the investigation now has expanded to include “potential tax and business fraud related to the Trump Organization’s valuation of its properties,” according to the report.

“Filings by Vance‘s office in the fight over the subpoena indicated that prosecutors are examining wide disparities in how Mr. Trump‘s company valued properties in its portfolio. For instance, prosecutors wrote in September that in the past decade, Mr. Trump‘s valuation of the Seven Springs estate in suburban New York ranged from between $25 million and $50 million, to between $261 and $291 million,” CBS also reported.

Ted Cruz Blames His Daughters After Getting Backlash for Going on Vacation Amid Deadly Texas Winter Storm

Ted Cruz is speaking out about taking a vacation while his home state deals with a weather crisis.

The 50-year-old Texas Senator issued a statement Thursday (February 18) after being called out for traveling to Cancun with family in the middle of a historic deep freeze, which has killed at least 21 people and knocked out power to more than 4 million people across the state.

“This has been an infuriating week for Texans. The greatest state in the greatest country in the world has been without power. We have food lines, gas lines, and people sleeping at the neighbors’ houses. Our homes are freezing and our lights are out. Like millions of Texans, our family lost heat and power too,” he wrote.

“With school cancelled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon. My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas. We want our power back, our water on, and our homes warm. My team and I will continue using all our resources to keep Texans informed and safe.”

Find out how people reacted to images of the Senator going on vacation amid the weather crisis.

Donald Trump Acquitted by Senate in Impeachment Trial, 7 Republicans Vote Guilty

Donald Trump‘s second impeachment trial has ended and the former President of the United States was acquitted by the U.S. Senate.

After the House voted to impeach Trump, the Senate had an impeachment trial and 67% of the senators needed to vote guilty in order for him to be declared guilty.

The final vote was 57 votes for guilty and 43 votes for not guilty. There is currently a 50-50 split among Democrats and Republicans in the senate, so this means that seven Republicans decided to vote guilty.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer slammed the vote and said it was “un-American.”

“The former President inspired, directed, and propelled a mob to violently prevent the peaceful transfer of power, subvert the will of the people, and illegally keep that President in power,” he said just moments after the vote. “There is nothing, nothing more un-American than that. There is nothing, nothing more antithetical to our democracy… insulting to the generations of Americans patriots who gave their lives to defend our form of government.”

A New Political Term Was Just Added To The Dictionary

It’s official – Second Gentleman is the newest political term following the Presidential Inauguration held just last week.

Second Gentleman has been added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, as Doug Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris‘ husband, assumes the role in the White House.

“Well, now it’s official. @MerriamWebster just added ‘Second Gentleman’ to the dictionary,” Mr. Emhoff tweeted from his official Second Gentleman twitter.

He added, “I might be the first, but I won’t be the last.”

Doug is the first Second Gentleman in the history of United States government, as Kamala is also the first female Vice President.

Kamala can also get credit for coining the term, as she said it during an interview with CNN last fall.

“I think that the term has evolved into the ‘second gentleman,’” she shared, adding that she’d “call him honey”.

Doug‘s daughter, Ella, was also in the news this week. See the exciting thing that happened to her here!

Gun Violence Activist David Hogg Issues Statement About Newly Elected Marjorie Taylor Green's Harassment Towards Him In Unearthed Viral Video

David Hogg is speaking out following a video going viral that shows newly elected Georgia representative Marjorie Taylor Greene harassing him at an event.

In the video, Marjorie is overheard and seen making false claims relating to gun rights and how he was able to meet with senators while David was heading to a meeting in 2019.

“He’s a coward,” she yells at the end of the video, pointing out that he and his Parkland friends are funded by billionaire philanthropist George Soros. “He can’t say one word because he can’t defend his stance.”

In a written statement to CNN, Marjorie says that she was in Washington at that time as well “going from office to office in the Senate to oppose the radical gun control agenda that David Hogg was pushing.”

“It’s so frustrating that we have people like @mtgreenee in Congress that would rather spread conspiracies about mass shootings than confront the reality people are dying everyday from gun violence,” David posted on Twitter as the video gained traction this week. “I just want to do the work and help end gun violence.”

Later on, David released an additional statement on the matter.

Following the video’s exposure, a few members of Congress are seeking to remove Marjorie from the House.

David was one of the Parkland massacre survivors who organized the March For Our Lives event, which supports of common-sense gun control.

President Biden Will Have Sign Language Interpreters During Press Briefings After Trump Refused

President Biden is implementing something that will help the hard of hearing and deaf for the first time.

The White House will include an American Sign Language interpreter at all briefings, Press Secretary Jen Psaki revealed on Monday (January 25).

“As a part of this administration’s accessibility and inclusion efforts, starting today we will have an ASL, an American Sign Language interpreter, for our daily press briefings,” she explained.

“The president is committed to building an America that is more inclusive, more just and more accessible for every American, including Americans with disabilities and their families.”

An ASL interpreter named Heather joined Monday’s virtual briefing.

The interpreters will be seen in-frame moving forward with briefings.

The National Association for the Deaf sued the Trump administration over its refusal to provide ASL interpreters for any COVID-19-related press briefings. There are approximately 11.5 million people with hearing disabilities in the United States.

The Trump White House did not comply with requests from lawmakers, a federal disability agency and the nation’s oldest civil rights organization asking for ASL interpreters. A court eventually ordered the White House to provide ASL interpreters at all COVID-19 briefings.

“There is more work to be done, but this is a great day for inclusion and access for the deaf and hard of hearing community,” the NAD said in a statement.

President Joe Biden Repeals Military Ban For Transgender People: 'America Is Stronger When It Is Inclusive'

President Joe Biden has officially taken action on the Trump Administration’s transgender ban, which prohibited people from enlisting and serving in the military.

The 78-year-old Commander in Chief announced that he has repealed the ban.

“President Biden believes that gender identity should not be a bar to military service, and that America’s strength is found in its diversity,” a White House statement shared to press stated.

It continues, “This question of how to enable all qualified Americans to serve in the military is easily answered by recognizing our core values. America is stronger, at home and around the world, when it is inclusive. The military is no exception.

“Allowing all qualified Americans to serve their country in uniform is better for the military and better for the country because an inclusive force is a more effective force.”

Recently sworn in Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin supports the decision of repealing the ban.

“I truly believe … that if you’re fit and you’re qualified to serve and you can maintain the standards, you should be allowed to serve,” he shared just last week. “And you can expect that I will support that throughout.”

Since being sworn in as President, Mr. Biden has put a pandemic plan back in place, unveiled his plans to help small businesses across the country and also taken steps to rejoin the Paris Agreement, which the previous administration had pulled out of.
