Jessica Simpson is revealing why her ex boyfriend, former NFL quarterback Tony Romo, broke up with her.

It all started when Jessica‘s ex, John Mayer, started to get back in touch with her. In “Open Book,” Jessica writes that she’d always tell Tony when John contacted her.

However, in 2009, she ran into John at her parents house, and Tony then found an email from him to her. The couple dated for two years before Tony broke things off in July of 2009.

“[Tony] accused me of seeing John behind his back. I hadn’t cheated on Tony at all, but I could not lie and say I hadn’t even seen him. ‘Nothing happened,’ I said,” Jessica wrote in her book. “Tony didn’t believe that for a second. And within that second, he broke up with me right there. Two years, gone with an email.”

“I could trust that Tony would never tell the press that John Mayer caused the breakup. It would imply that he wasn’t enough for me,” she added. “Tony soon realized I was telling the truth. Of course I didn’t cheat on him. But our breakup had been so ugly that it shocked me into realizing it had been necessary.”

Then, Jessica revealed, the drama with John wasn’t over.

“[John] had said all these things, practically asking my parents for my hand in marriage while I was in a serious relationship. Swearing to me up and down that he was a changed man,” she added. “Now here I was, ready to pledge my love back, and to kiss him as the curtain came down. And it fell on my head… All this time, all those years, he was breaking up with me to torture himself enough to get good material.”

“It felt inevitable to be in love with John, so I continued talking to him for months. But I knew now not to let him get close enough to shoot me down again,” she added.

Jessica Simpson is revealing how many times she got back together with John Mayer during their time together.

“We were great at intimacy. We were great at loving each other,” she said during an interview on the Today show about their 2006 relationship. That was easy, but the relationship was very complex. And it was always on-again, off-again. On-again, off-again. And I went back close to nine times.”

Lucy Hale has revealed that she once tried to match with John Mayer on a dating app, but he didn’t swipe right in return.

The 30-year-old Katy Keene actress said that she was using an app that is “so-VIP-it-can’t-be-named.”

“I pressed yes for him, but I don’t think he pressed yes for me,” Lucy told Cosmopolitan. When the reporter told her about John‘s reputation with relationships, she said, “I’m so drawn to musical talent, I don’t care.”

Lucy has previously been linked to David Henrie, Chris Zylka, Graham Rogers, musician Anthony Kalabretta, and her Life Sentence co-star Riley Smith.

“When I was younger, I was constantly wanting to be with or date someone because I was so deathly afraid of being single or by myself,” Lucy told the mag about her dating life. “Now, I’m at the point where if I meet someone, they better really elevate my life, because I love being single.”

“I used to be really drawn to, like, damaged people who had been through some s–t,” she added. “Now, I’m like, You can be nice but not boring. Nice but not a dud.”

Jessica Simpson is about to release her new memoir “Open Book” and she wrote about her former relationship with ex-boyfriend John Mayer.

In a new feature with the New York Times, it was revealed that Jessica started drinking heavily when she was dating John in 2006 and she got to the point nearly a decade later when a doctor told her she needed to stop drinking.

Jessica wrote in the book that her therapist once suggested that John “probably never loved her, he was just obsessed with her.”

“Ooh, that broke me in half!” Jessica told the Times. “And that’s years into being married and having kids. And it was like, ‘Wow. I did this all for obsession? This was his way of loving me?’ I think that it just never clicked until it was just blatantly said to me: That’s not love.”

Jessica said she didn’t tell John about the book. She said, “I don’t think he’ll be shocked. He knows these stories.”

And if John tries to use the book to his advantage she says, “I don’t care.”

Jessica started dating John after her divorce from Nick Lachey. She has been married to former NFL player Eric Johnson since 2014.

Jessica Simpson is opening up like she hasn’t before with regard to her relationship with her ex boyfriend John Mayer. They met in 2005 and dated for a few months.

“He’d walk into a room and pickup his guitar and you’d swoon,” the 39-year-old writes in her new memoir “Open Book” (via People). “I didn’t really know the man behind the guitar. And that was my mission.”

“Again and again, he told me he was obsessed with me, sexually and emotionally,” she said. “I constantly worried that I wasn’t smart enough for him. He was so clever and treated conversation like a friendly competition that he had to win.”

She added that she was so afraid to disappoint him that she would have a friend check her text messages for grammar.

“My anxiety would spike and I would pour another drink. It was the start of me relying on alcohol to mask my nerves,” she continued. “He loved me in the way that he could and I loved that love for a very long time. Too long. And I went back and forth with it for a long time. But it did control me.”

Jessica is also issuing her response to John saying she was like “sexual napalm.”

“He thought that was what I wanted to be called,” Jessica continued. “I was floored and embarrassed that my grandmother was actually gonna read that. A woman and how they are in bed, is not something that is ever talked about. It was shocking.”

And about rumors he cheated, she said, “He was the most loyal person on the planet and when I read that he wasn’t, that was it for me. I erased his number. He made it easy for me to walk away.”

She added, “I know that he’s publicly apologized and I don’t want to take that away from him.”

“I think he knows a lot of this about me already but he doesn’t know the perspective I have as a woman,” she says. “That was Jess in her 20s.”

John Mayer keeps it comfy and trendy while enjoying a night out!

The 42-year-old “New Light” singer was spotted grabbing dinner at San Vicente Bungalows on Thursday (January 9) in West Hollywood, Calif.

He was seen chatting with the valet as he dropped off his car.

John sported a long black jacket over a lighter-colored shirt, along with loose-fitting black pants and sneakers with neon laces.

John Mayer is getting into the holiday spirit with a silly new song!

During his Instagram talk show Current Mood on Monday (December 23), the 42-year-old singer dropped his hilarious new Christmas song titled “CVS Bag.”

“I wrote this song myself and it’s about something we all encounter in the holidays,” John shared in the video.

While singing the new song, John starts taking things out of the CVS bag, including a travel thing of q-tips and an Applebees card.

“I wrote a song about the trustiest of companions while staying at someone else’s house for the holidays,” John captioned the video. “Please enjoy ‘CVS Bag,’ as performed last night on @currentmood. Happy Holidays!”
