The upcoming Melina Matsoukas-directed drama stars Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith.

Here’s a plot summary: while on a forgettable first date together in Ohio, a black man (Kaluuya) and a black woman (Turner-Smith), are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The situation escalates, with sudden and tragic results, when the man kills the police officer in self-defense. Terrified and in fear for their lives, the man, a retail employee, and the woman, a criminal defense lawyer, are forced to go on the run. But the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for people across the country.

Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith, in her first starring feature-film role, are a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde in the new movie Queen & Slim!

The first trailer for the film, written by Lena Waithe and James Frey and directed by Melina Matsoukas, has been released.

Here is the film’s synopsis: While on a forgettable first date together in Ohio, a black man (Kaluuya) and a black woman (Turner-Smith), are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The situation escalates, with sudden and tragic results, when the man kills the police officer in self-defense. As they drive, these two unlikely fugitives will discover themselves and each other in the most dire and desperate of circumstances, and will forge a deep and powerful love that will reveal their shared humanity and shape the rest of their lives.

Tiffany Haddish hits the red carpet in a feathered outfit as she arrives at the 2019 Wearable Art Gala on Saturday night (June 1) at The Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport in Sana Monica, Calif.

The 39-year-old actress walked the red carpet alongside hosts Tina Knowles-Lawson and her husband Richard Lawson.

Other guests at the event included Richard‘s daughter Bianca Lawson and Solange Knowles‘ 14-year-old son Julez Smith and his dad Daniel Smith.

The theme of this year’s gala is “A Journey to the Pride Lands,” in honor of Disney’s upcoming CGI remake of The Lion King, which Tina‘s daughter Beyoncé stars as Nala.

Black Panther is making a big impact during awards season and Disney is hoping the film will get many Oscar nominations. The film has already received three Golden Globe nominations, two SAG Awards nominations, and 11 Critics’ Choice Awards nominations.

Cate Blanchett and Emilia Clarke received major honors at the 2018 British Academy Britannia Awards!

The two actresses stepped out at the annual award ceremony on Friday night (October 26) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

During the ceremony, Cate was honored with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film, which recognizes legendary individuals who have made a unique, enduring impact on film.

Meanwhile Emilia was honored with British Artist of the Year.

Other honorees included Excellence in Comedy winner Jim Carrey and Excellence in Television winner Damian Lewis.

Also in attendance was Daniel Kaluuya, Michelle Rodriguez, Viola Davis and Elizabeth Debicki.
