Jennifer Garner Stars As Buttercup & The Crone In Star-Studded Quarantine 'Princess Bride' Remake Which Will Air on Quibi

Jennifer Garner boos herself as The Crone in a sneak peek of a star-studded quarantine-style The Princess Bride.

The 48-year-old actress joined a ton of other stars to remake the iconic film, sharing roles and getting creative while stuck inside under stay at home orders during the pandemic.

Vanity Fair spoke to filmmaker Jason Reitman, who told the magazine the idea came to him just as the “stay-at-home order came through in California.”

“I just thought, Can we remake an entire movie at home? And I had seen that a fan-made Star Wars had been done. I just started reaching out to actors I knew, saying, ‘Is this something you’d want to do?’ And the response was kind of immediate and fast. It was like, ‘Oh—that sounds like fun.’”

Jennifer stars with Tiffany Haddish, Common, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Hugh Jackman, Andy Serkis, Keegan-Michael Key, Elijah Wood, Beanie Feldstein, Jack Black, Diego Luna, Taika Waititi, Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz, Patton Oswalt, Josh Gad, and even original Princess Bride director Rob Reiner, and original star Fred Savage.

The project will be broadcast on Quibi in full starting on June 29.

Jamie Lee Curtis & Cary Elwes Slam Idea of 'Princess Bride' Remake

Rumors are swirling there could be a remake of The Princess Bride, the hit 1987 film from Rob Reiner, and two people connected with the movie aren’t happy!

It all started when Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra told Variety that a remake could happen. He said, “We have so many people coming to us saying, ‘We want to remake this show or that show. Very famous people whose names I won’t use, but they want to redo ‘The Princess Bride.”

Jamie Lee Curtis, who is married to Christopher Guest who played the role of Count Rugen in the movie, posted on Twitter, “Oh really? Well, I married the six fingered man, obviously why we have stayed together for 35 years and there is only ONE The Princess Bride and it’s William Goldman and @robreiner’s. ‘Life is pain highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something!’”

Cary Elwes, who played the leading role of Westley in the film, tweeted about the news, “There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one.”
