The Kid Laroi is a rising star who had a major platform this past weekend with his appearance on Saturday Night Live alongside Miley Cyrus.

The 17-year-old Aussie rapper, whose real name is Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard, performed the “Without You” remix with Miley during the highly anticipated episode with host Elon Musk.

Laroi recently sat down for an interview with the Spout podcast and he talked about his unique sense of style, the biggest splurges he’s made since becoming a star, and more.

“Before I came out here and you know, got a lot of money and started experimenting with different type of stuff, I was wearing a lot of tracksuits and like Nikes and stuff like that,” Laroi said. “That’s what I was wearing. That’s what a lot of people around my neighborhood were wearing. And I think that’s a big thing in Australia, the tracksuit vibe.”

When Laroi got to the U.S., he started wearing jeans!

“Well, I always knew about jeans, but I didn’t know how much I liked him until I came out here,” he said, adding that it was very out of the ordinary for him to wear jeans while living in Australia.

Laroi was asked what his most lavish purchases have been lately.

“I haven’t gone too crazy with like random stuff. I buy a lot of expensive clothes, but I don’t know, I can’t really think of something. Maybe the most sick thing was like a jacket or a sweater that was probably like $5,000 or $6,000,” he said. “You know, I love spending money on clothes and stuff like that. But you know, I like to spend my money in more smarter places as well… you know like there’s obviously stuff that I paid more money for, but I’m like, I was happy with it.”

The 28-year-old singer appeared on the NBC sketch comedy series as the musical guest on Saturday (May 8).

For her first performance, Miley was joined on stage by Australian singer The Kid LAROI as they sang their new remix “Without You.”

Later in the show, Miley returned to the stage to perform “Plastic Hearts.”

The 28-year-old Plastic Hearts singer and the 17-year-old Australian rapper just released the remix for his song “Without You.”

Along with the remix, Miley and The Kid LAROI also released the very trippy music video to with it.

“‘WITHOUT YOU’ with @thekidlaroi is out now 🖤 LOVE this song as much as I loooooove my new friend!” Miley tweeted with the video. “We made this video on a random week night! Hit the kid at 12 am he said ‘I’ll be there in an hour’ and he was. This is what we made! 🍄”
