Sony Pictures & Marvel Announce One More 'Spider-Man' Movie

Sony Pictures and Marvel are working together again!

Sony Pictures Entertainment and The Walt Disney Studios announced that Marvel Studios and the company’s president Kevin Feige will produce one more film in the Spider-Man series on Friday (September 27).

The movie will once again star Tom Holland, and is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021.

It was also agreed upon that Spider-Man will also appear in future Marvel movies.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold,” said Kevin.

The news follows the earlier report that Disney and Sony reached an impasse over a new financing deal back in the summer, which Tom spoke out about in August.

Tom Holland Breaks Silence on Sony-Disney Split & 'Spider-Man' Future

Tom Holland is speaking out following the recent news that Spider-Man will no longer be included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to a rift between the studios Sony and Disney.

The 23-year-old actor spoke out while appearing at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday (August 24) to promote his upcoming animated movie Onward.

“Basically, we’ve made five great movies,” Tom said in an interview with People/EW. “It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

While on stage for the Onward panel, Tom began to tear up and he told the audience, “It’s been a crazy week but I want you all to know from the bottom of my heart, I love you 3000.”

If you saw Avengers: Endgame, then you know how “I love you 3000″ is one of the most iconic lines from the film.

Jeremy Renner Wants Sony to Give Spider-Man to the MCU

Jeremy Renner is reacting to the report that Spider-Man will not be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man has been part of the Sony Pictures family since the first live-action movie in 2002, long before Disney launched the MCU. An agreement was made to allow the character to appear alongside other Marvel characters, but now it has expired and the two studios can’t come to a new agreement.

“Hey @sonypictures we want Spider-Man back to @therealstanlee and @marvel please, thank you,” Jeremy wrote on Instagram after the news broke.

Jeremy plays the character Hawkeye in the Avengers movies.

Many people are pointing out that fans should be calling out Disney as well since the studio reportedly asked for a large portion of the Spider-Man movie profits to continue the deal.

Sony Pictures Releases Statement on Spider-Man's Future Amid Standoff with Disney

A rep for Sony Pictures is speaking out following the news that the studio could not reach an agreement with Disney to keep Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man has been a character that has remained under the Sony Pictures umbrella for years, well before the MCU was even a thing.

Marvel president Kevin Feige will no longer serve as the lead producer on the Spider-Man films and Sony’s statement mainly reacts to this part of the story.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise,” a Sony spokesperson told THR. “We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.”

“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own,” the statement added. “Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”

Ryan Reynolds Reacts to Fan's Request for Spider-Man & Deadpool Movie

Ryan Reynolds is reacting to the news that Spider-Man is leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A fan sent a tweet to Ryan, who plays the Marvel character Deadpool, requesting that there is a movie with Deadpool and Spider-Man.

“Can we get a Spiderman & Deadpool movie now,” the fan wrote. Ryan responded, “You can. But you can only see it in my heart.”

Fans have been sending tweets to Ryan asking him to help broker a deal between Sony Pictures and Disney to allow Spider-Man to stay in the MCU.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man Exits the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Spider-Man will no longer be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Sony and Disney were unable to finalize an agreement to continue their partnership.

The Spider-Man franchise had been part of the Sony Pictures family before Disney launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the studios formed a partnership so that the character could join the cinematic world.

Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man launched the partnership between the studios with his appearance in Captain America: Civil War and he appeared in five MCU movies overall.

Disney received five percent of first dollar gross for Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, but the studio wanted a bigger percentage moving forward. Sony opted to keep the five percent in place and the studios were unable to reach an agreement on the matter.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, will no longer serve as a producer on any future Spider-Man movies from Sony and Tom will likely not appear in any future Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, according to THR.

It’s important to note that Tom will still return as Spider-Man in future movies, but they will likely not be connected to the other Marvel movies.

Variety reports that a deal could still be reached, so maybe if enough fans speak out, they’ll come to an agreement!

Where Have You Seen Spider Man: Far From Home's Betty Before?

If you’re a pop culture buff and you’ve already seen Spider-Man: Far From Home, you might be wondering why the character Betty, who plays Ned’s love interest, looks so familiar. Here’s why!

The 18-year-old Australian actress who plays Betty, Angourie Rice, has appeared in some popular titles in recent years.

Of course, she also plays Betty in the first film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. But outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Angourie has also starred in the 2013 apocalypse-themed thriller These Final Hours, as well as in 2016′s The Nice Guys as Ryan Gosling‘s daughter.

She also starred in Sofia Coppola‘s The Beguiled from 2017, as well as playing Rhiannon in 2018′s Every Day.

Most recently, and perhaps most recognizably, she just starred in the Miley Cyrus-led episode of Black Mirror, “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too,” which premiered earlier this year.

Did you recognize Angourie from one of her recent projects?
