Two leads are leaving Grey’s Anatomy…and it’s shocking!
Jessica Capshaw, who has played Dr. Arizona Robbins for 10 seasons, and Sarah Drew who has played Dr. April Kepner for nine seasons, will both be exiting the show after the current season. The decision was reportedly made by the producers, and they will be the only series regular actors to depart after this season, Deadline reports.
“It’s always hard for me to say goodbye to any of my characters,” executive producer Shonda Rhimes said in a statement. “Both Arizona Robbins and April Kepner are not only beloved but iconic — both the LBGTQ and devout Christian communities are underrepresented on TV. I will be forever grateful to both Jessica and Sarah for bringing these characters to life with such vibrant performance and for inspiring women around the globe. They will always be a part of our Shondaland family.”
Technically, Grey’s Anatomy has not been renewed for a 15th season by ABC yet, but the show is expected to continue on. Ellen Pompeo recently signed a massive new contract.
