Dr. Anthony Fauci is making sure that kids feel safe on Christmas Day and he’s assuring them that it’s perfectly fine for Santa Claus to visit their homes.

During an appearance on the CNN Town Hall with Sesame Street, Fauci responded to questions from kids like “how did Santa get the vaccine and is it safe for him to go in the house” and “how can Santa Claus safely give out presents with COVID-19 spreading everywhere?”

Fauci said, “Well I have to say I took care of that for you because I was worried you’d all be upset. So what I did a little while ago, I took a trip up there to the North Pole. I went there and I vaccinated Santa Claus myself. I measured his level of immunity, and he is good to go.”

“He can come down the chimney. He can leave the presents, he can leave and you have nothing to worry about. Santa Claus is good to go,” Fauci added.

The 58-year-old The Office alum plays the iconic role in The Greatest Gift, an ad for Xfinity TV and broadband out on Thursday (November 26).

A two-minute version of the short film aired on NBC’s broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, followed by a three-and-a-half-minute version going online right after.

“After the year we’ve had, the usual gifts just aren’t going to cut it,” Santa informs a group of elves via a videoconference.

With time running out before Christmas Eve, the elves brainstorm a solution before deciding to give the spirit of the holidays itself, expressed through things like family snowball fights and the smell of grandma’s cooking instead of physical gifts.

The spot is soundtracked by Supertramp’s 1974 song “Dreamer,” reinterpreted by the band’s lead singer, Roger Hodgson.

“The holidays are really about moments of togetherness with the people you love, and serve as a reminder for what’s most important, especially given the hardships of this past year. I hope that this sweet little story will bring a bit of cheer,” Steve said of the ad.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is giving us some hope for Christmas, and letting us know that Santa Claus might be the only one immune to coronavirus.

In a new interview with USA Today, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases revealed that the pandemic won’t stop St. Nicholas from spreading Christmas spirit around the world.

“Santa is exempt from this because Santa, of all the good qualities, has a lot of good innate immunity,” Dr. Fauci shared. “Santa is not going to be spreading any infections to anybody.”

Of course, while Santa might be immune, the country will look a little different as far as holiday gatherings go, as many officials advise families to celebrate with their immediate kin right now in an attempt to stop the spread and lower the number of cases.

“The tragedy that could happen is one of your family members, from coming together in a family gathering, could wind up hospitalized and severely ill and could die. We don’t want to see that happen. This year we’re asking people to be as safe as possible,” said the CDC’s Dr. Henry Walke.

A federal health agency reportedly just put an end to a coronavirus vaccine PSA campaign, funded by $250 million in taxpayer money, after offering a special vaccine deal to Santa Claus performers, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal on Sunday (October 25).

According to audio recordings, as part of the plan, a top official in the Trump administration wanted Santa performers to promote the benefits of a COVID-19 vaccine by offering early access to the vaccine before the general public.

“The deal was the brainchild of the official, Michael Caputo, an HHS assistant secretary, who took a 60-day medical leave last month. The rest of the campaign now is under an HHS review,” WSJ reported.

The Department of Health and Human Services confirmed Friday (October 23) the Santa plan would be scrapped.

Ric Erwin, chairman of the Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas, called the news “extremely disappointing,” and said that “this was our greatest hope for Christmas 2020, and now it looks like it won’t happen.”

The ad effort, which was to include TV, radio, online and podcast announcements, was set to be titled “Covid 19 Public Health and Reopening America Public Service Announcements and Advertising Campaign,” aimed to “defeat despair, inspire hope and achieve national recovery,” according to a work statement reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

A former White House official said some celebrities, including Dennis Quaid, declined to participate after concerns that the campaign would be seen as political.

In a 12-minute phone call in late August, Michael Caputo reportedly told Ric Erwin of the Santa group that vaccines would “likely be approved by mid-November and distributed to front-line workers before Thanksgiving.”

“If you and your colleagues are not essential workers, I don’t know what is…I cannot wait to tell the president. He’s going to love this,” he reportedly said on the call.
