Rod Stewart and his oldest son, Sean, were reportedly involved in an altercation with security guards on New Year’s Eve.
People is reporting that the 74-year-old rocker and Sean, 39, got into a big fight during their holiday in Palm Beach, Florida.
Both Rod and Sean are accused by police in Palm Beach of simple battery, via a probable cause affidavit, and are now ordered to appear at criminal court in February.
The police report says that Rod and Sean were with a group of people when they became “agitated” after being denied access to a private event being held at The Breakers, a resort in Palm Beach.
“The group began to get loud and cause a scene, and refused to follow…instructions to leave,” the affidavit reads.
Sean “shoved” what is believed to have been an event security guard, with Rod following with a punch shortly thereafter that struck the guard in the “left ribcage area.”
Rod apologized for his actions.
“It was a brief misunderstanding and neither Rod nor Sean were detained,” a source shared with People. “Apologies were exchanged and there were no injuries.”
