Democratic National Convention 2020 Has Been Postponed

The 2020 Democratic National Convention has officially been postponed.

The event – originally set for July 13-17 – has been put on hold until August due to the current health crisis, Deadline reports.

“In light of the unprecedented health crisis facing our country, the 2020 Democratic National Convention will now be held the week of August 17 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, providing our team more time to determine the most appropriate structure for this historic event,” the Democratic National Convention Committee said.

“Ensuring the safety of the convention’s host community and all convention-goers has been—and always will remain—the top priority of the Democratic National Convention Committee,” they added. “As we continue to monitor the unpredictable and unprecedented public health emergency, we remain in constant communication with the local, state, and federal officials responsible for protecting public health and security, and will continue to follow their guidance.”

The event might change its format “to ensure nominating the next president of the United States is done without unnecessary risk to public health.”

Joe Solmonese, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee, said in a statement, “In our current climate of uncertainty, we believe the smartest approach is to take additional time to monitor how this situation unfolds so we can best position our party for a safe and successful convention.”

Family's Quarantine-Themed 'Les Miserables' Song Goes Viral (Video)

This UK family has found internet fame with their lockdown-themed version of “One Day More” from the musical Les Miserables!

The Marsh family is currently social distancing at their home in Kent – and the struggles they sing about are all too relatable.

The family performed the song in a Facebook video shared by dad Ben Marsh. It also features his wife Danielle and their four children, Alfie, 13, Thomas, 12, Ella, 10, and Tess, 8 (via Metro.co.uk).

After a brief family argument, they go on to sing about online shopping, ordering food, trying to contact their grandparents via Skype, whether or not to change their clothes, online schooling, and more serious issues concerning the ongoing health crisis.

The family was interviewed on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday (March 31).

“The nice thing about changing the words is that they can all sing about stuff that they like,” Ben said. “Football and all sorts of other stuff, school, grandparents which is a massive issue for everyone, being able to communicate online.”

“We’ve had these incredible messages that social media couldn’t keep up with from people coming off night shifts, ICU nurses, and it’s just absolutely lovely to see that positivity,” he added.

If you missed it, Nick Lachey and JoJo have also given some famous songs a quarantine-themed spin.

Drive-In Movie Theaters See Bump in Business After Traditional Movie Theaters Close During Health Crisis

Drive-In Movie Theaters are having a resurgence right now during the coronavirus outbreak.

According to reports via Deadline and the Los Angeles Times, the theaters are seeing a bump in business because most other traditional movie theaters have closed during the crisis.

Many are heading to the drive-in to enjoy a movie out at the theater and they can, because of how a vehicle is considered its’ own space.

This limits interactions with others and is one of the safest social distancing ways to see other people, all while enjoying a movie.

Deadline says that earlier this week, two of the last remaining drive-ins in California – the Paramount Drive-in California and the Sacramento 6 Drive-in – made over $1,000 at the box office.

There aren’t many Drive-Ins left, however, as most shuttered with the introduction of closed in movie theaters.
