Rachel McAdams will be starring in the upcoming film adaptation of the beloved Judy Blume book, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret!
The 42-year-old actress will be playing the role of Margaret’s mother while Abby Ryder Forston has been cast as the title character, “a sixth-grade girl who is going through puberty and searches the universe for any answers she can find.”
The book was published in 1970 and Blume has not allowed a film adaptation to happen until now, according to Variety.
She said of the casting, “Abby is funny and tender, strong yet vulnerable. She IS Margaret. And Rachel — wow! — does it get any better? A funny, loving, sexy, real woman who is also a mom. I can’t wait to see these two playing mother and daughter. It all began with trusting [writer and director] Kelly Fremon Craig and [producer] James L. Brooks and they’ve proven how much this project means to them, which means everything to me.”
The movie will begin production in April!
