Emma Stone Will Star in Showtime Comedy Series 'The Curse'!

Emma Stone has landed an exciting new role!

The 32-year-old La La Land actress will star in an upcoming half-hour comedy Showtime series called The Curse alongside Nathan For You star Nathan Fielder, who also created the series, Deadline confirmed Thursday (December 10).

Uncut Gems director Benny Safdie co-created the series, and will also star. His brother Josh Safdie will executive produce.

Here’s a plot summary: “The genre-bending comedy explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring on their problematic new HGTV show.”

It also Emma‘s first starring TV role since Netflix’s Maniac back in 2018.

“The fierce intelligence and wit of the incomparable Emma Stone make her the perfect partner with the ingenious minds of the Safdie brothers and the subversive comedy of Nathan Fielder,” said Showtime’s Amy Israel.

“Together, they promise to deliver a groundbreaking satire that is both unexpected and deeply human.”

At the same time, Emma Stone is reportedly exiting this high-profile production.

Safdie Brothers' 'The Curse' Comedy Pilot is Headed to Showtime!

Showtime has ordered a comedy pilot, titled The Curse, from the Safdie brothers!

The network has given a pilot green light to the project from Uncut Gems directors/co-writers Benny and Josh Safdie and Nathan for You creator and star Nathan Fielder, Deadline reports.

The half-hour comedy stars, is written by, and is executive produced by Benny and Nathan. Josh is an executive producer.

The show “explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple who star in Flipanthropy, their troubled HGTV show.”

Nathan will play the husband, and Benny will portray the producer of the HGTV show.

While the project had been pitched with the Safdie brothers directing, they will reportedly not direct the pilot.

The Safdie brothers won Best Director for Uncut Gems at the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Watch them hilariously recite their speeches at the same time!

Amy Schumer hits the stage to perform some stand-up at the 2016 Comedy Central Live Upfront held at Town Hall on Thursday evening (March 31) in New York City.

The 34-year-old comedian was joined at the event by Broad City‘s Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, Trevor Noah, Jason Sudeikis, WorkaholicsAdam DeVine and Blake Anderson, Chris Hardwick, Jeff Ross, Riki Lindhome, Natasha Leggero, Nathan Fielder and Jordan Klepper.

“Do you guys know that I’m really famous now? I think it’s gonna last another six months,” Amy joked during her set (via USA Today). “Obviously, I’ve got behavioral issues. I didn’t know what being famous would be like. You can imagine, and then it actually really blows. You’re like, ‘Boo-hoo,’ and yes, I’m very rich now. Very rich. But now, I get to have things like: If I walk down the street in New York, people going, ‘Oh my god, I never do this, but would you (expletive) my brother?’”
