The funeral scene did air, but it definitely ends on a positive note because Mr. Peanut is reborn as Baby Nut… kind of like how Groot was reborn as Baby Groot!
Wesley Snipes and Matt Walsh are featured in the ad after being with Mr. Peanut when he died.
Planters was planning on airing two commercials during the 2020 Super Bowl, but now only one will be shown out of respect for the death of Kobe Bryant.
In the first ad, the Mr. Peanut character is riding in a car with actors Wesley Snipes and Matt Walsh, but they crash off a cliff. The three of them are hanging off a tree, but their weight is causing it to snap, so Mr. Peanut falls to his death.
The second commercial is going to be a funeral for Mr. Peanut. This will still air, but instead of airing in the third quarter, it will air during the second quarter, before the tribute to Kobe during the halftime show.
