Kristoff St. John‘s official cause of death has been revealed after the Young and the Restless star passed away suddenly last month at the age of 52.

According to the coroner, the death was ruled accidental and the cause was officially listed as “heart disease combined with an accidental alcohol overdose,” CBS News reports. No other information has been released about his cause of death at this time.

Shemar Moore is breaking his silence on the sudden death of his former the Young and the Restless co-star Kristoff St. John.

“I’m raised an only child, but Kristoff is truly the closest thing to a brother and a brother’s love and a brother’s mentorship that I’ve ever known,” Shemar told People. “He didn’t have to embrace me the way he did. When I came in and was trying to find my way and he saw how scared I was, he saw how nervous I was. He saw my six pack and all that, but he just saw me and he embraced me like a brother. If he hadn’t embraced me, I would have never got my sure footing in the beginning days.”

The pair played half-brothers on the long-running soap opera.

“Without Kristoff St. John, there’s no Neil Winters. Without Neil Winters, there’s no opportunity for Malcolm Winters. And without Malcolm Winters, there’s no Shemar Moore. And if Shemar Moore didn’t get my chance to try on The Young & the Restless, then I don’t sit here today with let alone this career or this life. Not in this way. And I will give Kristoff, and I always have given Kristoff — and I’m not just saying this to be cute because of what’s happening today — I told him in the beginning because he embraced me the way he embraced me is the only reason that I have the life and career that I have,” Shemar continued.

He added, “I would have life, but it would have been on a very different tangent and a very different lane. I will always give Kristoff that credit. I will always thank The Young & the Restless for taking a chance on me so that I can have this career. Kristoff was there in the trenches with me. Victoria Rowell, Tonya Lee Williams…but Kristoff, day to day to day, he rooted for me. He didn’t have to. He didn’t have to, and many wouldn’t, but he rooted for me; he helped me; he held my hand; he said, ‘Stick with me, bruh, I’m going to show you the way and then you do what you’re doing.’”

Kristoff St. John‘s fiancee, model Kseniya Mikhaleva, just penned a heartbreaking message after his sudden death at the age of 52.

The Young and the Restless star’s death does not currently have a cause of death as it has been deferred after his autopsy.

Kristoff St. John‘s autopsy has been completed on Monday (February 4) after his sudden and tragic death on Sunday (February 3) at the age of 52.

According to The Blast, the coroner is now waiting for a toxicology report to determine the exact cause of death. For now, the cause of death has been deferred pending the results of the report.

Kristoff, a longtime star of the soap opera the Young and the Restless, was found deceased at his home in the San Fernando Valley area. His lawyer confirmed the tragic news a short time after the news broke.

Kristoff St. John was tragically found dead on Sunday (February 3), and his lawyer is confirming the news.

“Sadly I can confirm and we will have a statement later today,” the late Young & the Restless actor’s lawyer told ET. He was only 52 years old.

The Los Angeles Police Department also confirmed they responded to a call to a home in the San Fernando Valley at 2:05 pm. The call was for a “possible alcohol overdose,” and added that they could not confirm a cause of death at this time.

One of his friends apparently went to check on him at his home in the San Fernando Valley, where he was found. TMZ is reporting that no foul play is suspected and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

His ex wife, boxer Mia St. John, seems to have implied that Kristoff‘s tragic death may be related to his son Julian‘s death. Julian died by suicide in 2014 while getting treatment at a mental health facility.

“THAT HOSPITAL KILLED OUR SON @TheArtofJulian THEN MY HUSBAND @kristoffstjohn1 THATS WHAT HAPPENED! THEY KILLED MY FAMILY,” Mia tweeted.
