Jon Stewart Returns to 'Daily Show' for the First Time, Slams Congress - Watch Now!

Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show for the first time since stepping down earlier this summer, joining current host Trevor Noah on stage.

The 53-year-old former talk show host went back on the show to slam congress over the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, which is set to completely expire by next October. The act has provided health care to 9/11 responders who were made ill.

“It’s soon going to be out of money,” Jon said. “These first responders, many sick with cancers and pulmonary disease, have had to travel at their own expense to Washington, D.C., hundreds of times to plead for our government to do the right thing.”

“The only conclusion that I can draw is that the people of Congress are not as good a people as the people who are first responders,” Jon continued.

Jon Stewart & The Correspondents Say Goodbye to 'The Daily Show' - Watch Here!

Jon Stewart is all smiles at the final taping of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Thursday (August 6).

The 52-year-old comedian bid farewell alongside special guests and correspondents Steve Carell, Olivia Munn, Stephen Colbert, Kristen Schaal, Aasif Mandvi, John Hodgman, Jessica Williams, Hasan Minhaj, John Oliver, Jordan Klepper, and future host Trevor Noah.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band were also in attendance to cap the show with a special musical tribute.

“An artist I really admire once said that he thinks of his career as a long conversation with the audience, a dialog. Nothing ends, it’s a pause in the conversation,” Jon expressed during his final moments. “So rather than saying goodbye or goodnight, I’m just going say I’m going to go get a drink. And I’m sure I’ll see you guys before I leave.”

Jon Stewart Leaves Studio After Final 'Daily Show' Taping

Jon Stewart tips his hat to his fans while leaving the studio following the final taping of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Thursday evening (August 6) in New York City.

Some of the special guests in attendance at the taping included singer Bruce Springsteen and his longtime guitar player Steven Van Zandt, who has also acted on The Sopranos.

Jon opened up this week to NPR about why he decided to leave the show.

“You can’t just stay in the same place because it feels like you’ve built a nice house there. And that’s really the thing that I struggle with and it is unclear to me,” Jon said. “The minute I say I’m not going to do it anymore, I will miss it like crazy and I will consider that to be a terrible mistake that I’ve just made and I will want to grab it back. … I cannot tell you how fortunate I’ve been in this business to have worked with people like Stephen [Colbert] and John Oliver and Larry Wilmore and the writers and producers that we have at the show and all the opportunities that I have. And I consider it gravy, everything.”

President Obama Makes Final 'Daily Show' Appearance - Full Video!

President Barack Obama made his final appearance on The Daily Show on Tuesday (July 21) and he wants host Jon Stewart to stick around as much as the rest of us!

“I can’t believe that you’re leaving before me…I’m issuing a new executive order that Jon Stewart can not leave the show. It’s being challenged in the courts,” the President said on the show. Jon will end his Daily Show run in just a few weeks, while the President remains in office until January 2017.

The interview ended on a lighter note when Jon asked if the President had advice for Presidential candidate Donald Trump, to which he said, “I am sure the Republicans are enjoying Trump‘s current dominance.” Jon quipped back, “Anything that makes them look less crazy.”
