Frank Ocean Reveals He Gets His Unique Style from Joan Rivers

Frank Ocean is on the cover of W Magazine‘s new issue celebrating “The New Originals.”

The 31-year-old singer shares the cover with up-and-coming Spanish singer Rosalia. Here is what they shared with the mag:

Frank on finding his unique style: “[Joan Rivers] Rest in Peace. My legend…She was Sick! I mean, unapologetic. I think that ‘F–k who sees me’ energy, ‘This is what I am giving. Period’ is what I relate to in ballroom culture – it’s this extroversion manifest.”

Frank on what gave him the desire to pursue music as a career: “I remember feeling no attachment to music necessarily, more an attachment to what music could bring if I succeeded, you know financially. And that meant freedom from my situation at the time, and maybe what I was projecting onto my own future.”

Rosalia on her childhood growing up in Barcelona: “I would always change my Barbies. I’d cut their hair, paint on tattoos, and create new clothes for them. I would invent elaborate stories: fights, dramas, successes. I would try out my ideas on them and sometimes they would sing!”

'Fashion Police' Set to End with Final Episode Paying Tribute to Joan Rivers

Fashion Police, the long running E! network television show, will be concluding with a final series-finale special next month.

Fashion Police: The Farewell will air on November 27 and will be hosted by longtime host Joan Rivers‘ daughter Melissa Rivers. Panelists Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski, NeNe Leakes, and Margaret Cho will also be involved.

The episode will pay tribute to Joan and feature highlights from her run as host over the years.

“We’re going to take a look back and celebrate some of the show’s most memorable moments and hosts and gags,” E! president Adam Stotsky said (via Variety). “It’s an opportunity to celebrate the franchise, celebrate Joan and how much we miss her, and pull back the curtain and show fans some things that they haven’t seen.”

Melissa Rivers Talks Playing Mom Joan in Movie 'Joy'

Melissa Rivers is fresh-faced while making her way through LAX Airport for a flight out of town on Tuesday (December 22) in Los Angeles.

The 47-year-old television personality recently spoke with Vanity Fair about playing her mom Joan Rivers in the upcoming movie Joy.

“I think she would be a little miffed that they didn’t have Cate Blanchett playing her,” Melissa said. “I think she would have wanted Cate or Helen Mirren, had it been in the later years, because, of course, when you think of my mother you think of willowy and English.”

“I wanted to make sure that it didn’t became a caricature or an impersonation,” Melissa added. “I did work very hard on the speech pattern, and the tone, because I didn’t want it to become an impersonation. That’s what I was most frightened of. This was at the beginning of QVC and our [fashion] company is still going. It was such a big part of her life.”

Melissa Rivers Plays Mom Joan Rivers in 'Joy' - First Look Clip!

Melissa Rivers transforms into her late mom Joan Rivers while playing her in the upcoming movie Joy.

The 47-year-old Fashion Police producer plays Joan during a scene set at QVC and she interacts with Jennifer Lawrence‘s character Joy Mangano, a real-life entrepreneur.

“It was David‘s idea,” Melissa told People. “I literally one day got a call saying David O. Russell would like to meet you. Huh? What?”

“I thought, ‘Seriously when am I ever going to get to work with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell?’” she added. “I was like, ‘Okay, I’m in.’”

“My mother had a couple lovely encounters with Bradley and she was a fan of Jen‘s even though there was a situation once at Fashion Police where someone said something and Jennifer didn’t like it and kind of fired back,” Melissa continued. “It wasn’t my mother who said it and it kind of got lost in translation. The first thing Jennifer said was, ‘Even though we had that disagreement that really had nothing to do with her, I was a huge fan,’ and quoted back her favorite Fashion Police line ever to me: ‘That dress is so ugly it looks like it would be good at math.’ So here she is quoting my own show back to me, then she said to David, ‘I’m so happy you brought me someone to play with!’”
