The 90-minute conversation touched on the panelists’ 2015 work, as well as their overall careers, influences, and the challenges and rewards of working on indies.

Jason Segel is dapper in a suit while attending the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences New Member Reception held at Lincoln Ristorante on Monday (October 5) in New York City.

The 35-year-old actor was joined at the event by Patricia Clarkson and director of the New York Programs Academy Of Motion Picture Arts, Patrick Harrison.

Jason recently opened up about the story behind his puppet rock-opera centered around Count Dracula titled A Taste for Love, which was first seen in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

“I was going through this slow period, and at this time I was smoking a lot of pot, if we’re going to be honest about it,” Jason revealed (via Vulture). “And I came up with the conclusion that the way I was going to jump-start my career was with a lavish Dracula puppet musical. I wrote the Dracula musical alone in my apartment and I recorded it.”

“I then drove to Judd Apatow‘s house with a CD that I burned for him,” Jason added. “I played it for him. I remember it got to the end of the song, and Judd reached over and pushed pause and stopped it. And he said, you can’t play that for anybody.”

Jason Segel suits up for The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences screening of his new movie The End of the Tour held at United Artists East Hampton Cinema on Sunday (August 2) in East Hampton, N.Y.

The 35-year-old actor recently praised his co-star Jesse Eisenberg.

“Jesse is a superior intellect,” Jason told USA Today. “He’s one of the smartest guys I’ve ever met. I’ve never met a better actor or a better friend.”

Jason continued, “We didn’t meet until this movie, and we had like a meet and greet dinner with me, Jesse and the producers. We had never met each other before and you could tell we were all like feeling each other out a little bit…Someone asked me at the table how I got started writing, and I said this thing that I always say to deflect the question. I said, ‘It was by necessity. No one was knocking down my door to play Captain America.’ And without missing a beat, Jesse went, ‘No, but you could probably play the captain of a weaker country.’ And I knew at that moment that I was going to have to show up really sharp and ready.”

Jesse Eisenberg and Mamie Gummer hit the premiere of The End of the Tour held at the Writers Guild Theater on Monday (July 13) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Joining the pair at the event were actors Mickey Sumner, Jason Segel, and director James Ponsoldt.

Jesse recently made some comments about 2015 Comic-Con that many people are finding offensive.

“It is like being screamed at by thousands of people. I don’t know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide,” Jesse told the Associated Press. “I can’t think of anything that’s equivalent.” More Here! »

The 35-year-old actress reunited with her Freaks & Geeks co-stars Martin Starr, Linda Cardellini, Seth Rogen, Steve Bannos, Jason Segel, Samm Levine, and Dave Allen, along with creator Paul Feig and director Judd Apatow.
