Melissa McCarthy Reacts to the Final Words of 'Gilmore Girls'

Melissa McCarthy is spilling on what she thought of the last lines of the recent Gilmore Girls revival.

The 46-year-old actress hinted that she thought the last words left room for more.

“I had been waiting a long time to know, because [creator] Amy [Sherman-Palladino] had always said she knows exactly how it ends, but now it’s like, ‘Is that the last four words?’” she said in an interview with ET.

Melissa jokingly added, “”No [I wouldn't come back as Sookie], but I would come back as Lorelai. And that is a challenge to Lauren Graham.”

Alexis Bledel Opens Up About Filming More 'Gilmore Girls' Seasons

After the cryptic tweet that led fans to speculate about the possibility of more Gilmore Girls episodes, Alexis Bledel is weighing in.

The 35-year-old actress – who next stars in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale – discussed the future of the franchise during Hulu’s Television Critics Association press day on Saturday (January 7) in Pasadena, Calif.

“[Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life] came together so naturally, in a way,” Alexis said. “We had the fan reunion in Austin, we picked up momentum from there, and it came together so quickly. It really seemed like the right thing.”

“I think most, all of us are just wanting to tell a good story,” she went on. “I think that came together in A Year in the Life. The only thing I can say about a future installment of the show would be that it would be about the story and certainly the timing. We want to tell a great story.”

Jared Padelecki Talks Dean Becoming a Stars Hollow Townie

Jared Padalecki is opened up about the evolution of his Gilmore Girls fan-favorite character, Dean Forester.

The 34-year-old actor says that he went from a big city kid to a Stars Hollow townie.

“I do think very truly that maybe as I started to portray Dean more and more, they realized that my take on his character was maybe a bit more small town-y,” Jared told EW. “But I do feel like he kind of warped.”

He continued, “Moving to this very, very small town from a big city, maybe he puffed his chest a little bit, played the outsider, the badass. And then as he started to live in Stars Hollow even more, he realized that he was comfortable there and could just be himself and be a little bit more low key and didn’t have to intimidate and act like the loner James Dean-type.”

'Gilmore Girls' Creator Weighs In on Possibility of More Episodes

Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino sat down for an interview about the ending of the series, Rory’s big reveal with the last four words, and the possibility of more episodes.

“I always wanted [the story] to end in a Life Repeats Itself kind of way. The daughter following in the mother’s footsteps,” Amy told TV Line about Rory (Alexis Bledel) revealing that she is pregnant. “I always thought that was an interesting way to go, with these women who are so tied to each other and who make slightly different choices, but find themselves in interesting situations together. Because they are not like any normal mother and daughter. I wouldn’t have made her a teenage mother. But I thought [it made sense that] after college and right before she’s about to embark on her life that this would happen.”

“By the way, Rory doesn’t have to keep the baby. There are choices here that she can make. It’s just the left turn. It’s that curveball that life throws you,” Amy added.

When asked about more episodes, Amy responded, “No one is talking about that right now. We’re all very tired. I have to finish this Amazon pilot which I’m very proud of. Dan and I have been in a Gilmore cocoon for a year and a half. It’s been very intense. So we’re stepping back now. We’re happy it’s out. We’re happy we can talk about it.”

“I don’t rule anything in my life out,” she did add.
