Lauren Graham & Scott Patterson Had To Do This To Keep Up With 'Gilmore Girls' Speedy Dialogue

Gilmore Girls is pretty famous for its really fast and speedy dialogue in the show, and in a new interview with the NY Times, the cast touches on just how speedy it really was.

“This was a show where if you changed one word, they would cut,” Yanic Truesdale, who played Michel, revealed in the feature.

Keiko Agena, who played Lane, echoed him, revealing that the feedback she always got “was, ‘That was great. Could we do it again, just a little bit faster?’”

Apparently, George Bell, the show’s dialogue coach, would ask guest performers to “Gilmore-ize” their performances, aka, “Speed it up. You’ve just got to speed it up.”

Scott Patterson, who played Luke in the long running series and Netflix limited movie, even revealed that the speedy scripts prompted him and lead Lauren Graham to give up smoking.

“She needed her wind, and I needed my wind,” he explained, before revealing that rewrites on the already super long script (they were typically 20 pages longer than the norm), were turned around fast too.

He recalled one particular shooting day began with “a 10-page scene that came out of the writers room at 6:30 a.m.”

“Lauren and I were sitting in the makeup chair,” he shared. “We looked at each other with this abject terror, and then we got to work.”

Adam Brody Reunites With 'Gilmore Girls' Co-Star Keiko Agena To Talk Voting

It was a Gilmore Girls reunion for Adam Brody and Keiko Agena this week.

The former co-stars and on-screen couple reunited on Instagram Live to discuss the ways in which they’re getting involved ahead of the November presidential election.

Adam and Keiko teamed up with Vote Forward, in which volunteers send handwritten letters to unregistered and low-propensity voters encouraging them to participate in our democracy.

“You know, lately it’s been this constant dichotomy of enjoying my life and also freaking out and pulling my hair over the state affairs of the world and our country right now, and kind of trying to do both,” Adam shared as he caught up with Keiko.

“I feel the same,” she added. “I feel like there’s so much that I have to be really, truly grateful for, and then I flip with stress and worry and concern and care and passion for where we are.”

While Keiko admitted she had written over 900 letters, Adam admitted he was brand new to the letter writing game. He also spoke about his involvement with Swing Left in the 2016 election.

“For that one I knocked on some doors in Orange County — everything I do has to be TV-related,” he said with a laugh. “To my knowledge, only one person recognized me [from The O.C.].”

Adam called back to the way his character Dave knocked on Lane’s door in the iconic WB show.

Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons, from 2000 to 2007.

Melissa McCarthy & Kelly Clarkson Battle It Out In 'Gilmore Girls' Trivia

Melissa McCarthy is testing out her Gilmore Girls knowledge on The Kelly Clarkson Show – and she’s actually not too bad!

The 49-year-old actress starred as Sookie St. James on Gilmore Girls from 2000-2007, and in a trivia battle with Kelly Clarkson remembered more than we probably could about the WB series.

She was quizzed on the Gilmore’s Friday night dinners, Luke’s Diner and even how Rory broke her arm.

Melissa also revealed a behind the scenes story about Jackson’s proposal to Sookie.

“Fun fact: That was supposed to be at noon, and we shot at like one o’clock in the morning. So we were juts under like crazy klieg lights trying to make it look like daylight. So we couldn’t really look at each other because it was so bright,” she shared with Kelly.
