Shia LaBeouf Responds to FKA twigs' Lawsuit, Denies 'Each & Every' Allegation

In December, FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf for relentless abuse and sexual battery during their relationship.

The 33-year-old entertainer, born Tahliah Debrett Barnett, described the allegations at length, which Shia, at the time, denied. In December of 2020, Shia said, “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say,” before adding, “many of these allegations are not true,” but he owed the women “the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done.”

Now, in February 2021, LaBeouf‘s legal team has filed a response.

The response states that he “denies, generally and specifically, each and every allegation contained in [Barnett]‘s Complaint, denies that [Barnett] has sustained any injury or loss by reason of any act or omission on the part of [LaBeouf], and denies that [Barnett] is entitled to any relief or damages whatsoever.”

His legal team added that “none of the acts alleged were based on sex and/or the conduct was not sexual.” He also added that he wants the judge to side with him and for FKA twigs to pay for not only his legal fees, but “further relief as the Court may deem just and proper.”

FKA twigs detailed even more allegations against him in a recent interview.

FKA twigs Details 'Horrific' Racist Abuse from Ex Robert Pattinson's Fans

FKA twigs is sharing some rare insight into her relationship with Robert Pattinson.

During her appearance on Grounded with Louis Theroux podcast, the 33-year-old entertainer revealed the “horrific” treatment she received from the 34-year-old actor’s fans when they were dating.

If you didn’t know, FKA twigs and Rob started dating in 2014 and got engaged in 2015. They split in 2017.

“People just called me the most hurtful and ignorant and horrible names on the planet,” FKA twigs explained. “He was their white Prince Charming, and they considered he should be with someone white and blond.”

She continued, “It’s essentially bullying, and it does affect you psychologically. It was really deeply horrific, and I think it was at a time where I felt like I couldn’t really talk about it. I feel like if I was going through it now, I would be able to talk about it and do some good with it. But I don’t know whether it was to do with my age or because of the social climate or being Black and from Cheltenham and from a low-income family and having to genuinely work twice as hard at everything I do to get a seat at the table.”

FKA twigs went on to say that the comments were just mean-spirited, but they were also deeply racist.

“Say if I was wearing a red dress, they would have a monkey in a red dress, or I was on a bike, they would find a monkey on a bike,” FKA twigs recalled.

At the time, FKA twigs said the comments really affected her confidence, but over time she has learned to ignore the haters and love herself.

“But just for everyone to know, I now love how I look and I’m very confident,” FKA twigs said.

Also in the interview, FKA twigs opened up about the alleged abuse she experienced at the hands of ex Shia LaBeouf.

FKA twigs Details the Alleged Abuse She Faced From Shia LaBeouf in Brave New Interview

It has been over a month since FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against her ex Shia LaBeouf for relentless abuse and sexual battery.

“It is something in society that’s a really big problem and it’s really common, but for some reason we don’t talk about it,” she said on the Grounded with Louis Theroux podcast.

She revealed that she met him in 2019 on the set of his film Honey Boy and went through an “intense honeymoon period” which she said “is a signifier of how brilliant things can be. It sets the benchmark for if you behave well.”

The musician added, “If you fulfill all of the requirements and meet the rules, and all these things of the abuser, it can… be great,” she said, before adding he began testing her “emotional and spiritual boundaries.”

“Being nice to a waiter, or being polite to somebody, that could be seen as me flirting or wanting to engage in some sort of relationship with somebody else, when I’m literally just ordering pasta… I was told that I knew what he was like and if I loved him, I wouldn’t look men in the eye. That was my reality for a good four months,” she continued.

She alleged that he would count how many times she would kiss him in one day and was never sure “what the right number was.”

If she didn’t hit his quota, “he would start an argument with me, berate me for hours, make me feel like the worst person ever,” calling her a “terrible girlfriend.”

She said he also accused her of “staring at the ceiling and thinking about ways to leave him… accused me of not wanting to be with him. Accused me of wanting to be with somebody else. It would be always… between like four and seven in the morning.”

“All I can do is just think about myself when I’m 50 years old [and] I’ve got kids, I think about what I want to have stood for,” she shared. “This is something that was completely unexpected. I never thought anything like this would happen to me… when I’m older, if I have a daughter, I want to be able to say, ‘This thing happened to me. And I dealt with it.’ It’s a big thing to heal publicly and have to do it in front of everyone, but I can do it. I’m a big girl and I can do it.”

At the time she thought leaving him was “genuinely impossible. I felt so controlled and I felt so confused and I felt so low, beneath myself, that the fear of leaving and knowing I had all this work to do to get back to just feeling okay, it was completely overwhelming.”

Shia LaBeouf's 'Honey Boy' Director Alma Har'el Stands By FKA twigs Amid Abuse Lawsuit

Alma Har’el, who directed both Shia LaBeouf and FKA twigs in the film Honey Boy, is standing by FKA twigs amid her lawsuit against Shia for abuse and sexual battery.

The lawsuit claims that he physically, emotionally and mentally abused her many times in a relationship that lasted less than a year. It also claims that he gave her a sexually transmitted disease.

“I have a deep respect for FKA Twigs’ courage and resilience. Reading what she endured left me heartbroken and I stand with her in solidarity. I’m sending my love to her, Karolyn Pho, all victims of domestic violence, and everyone who is trying to stop cycles of abuse,” Alma said in a statement (via Variety). “As a filmmaker and an artist, I am drawn to stories that help us develop empathy for the messy parts of the human condition. Like many of Shia’s collaborators and fans who battled substance abuse, suffered childhood trauma, and face mental illness, I am painfully aware of my past investment in his recovery. I want to send a clear message today that none of the above should excuse, minimize, or rationalize domestic violence.”

She continued, “I’m grateful that survivors of childhood trauma have seen some aspects of themselves in Honey Boy and might feel less alone in their pain. I hope that they don’t take these events as a discouraging moment in their own recovery. I will be donating in Twigs’ and Karolyn Pho’s names to FreeFrom, the National Domestic Violence Hotline, and Sistah Space. I support and encourage victims in similar situations to speak up and seek help so they can create a path to safety and the healthy relationship they deserve.”
