'Fast & Furious' Stuntman Joe Watts is 'Stable' But in Coma

Fast & Furious 9 stuntman Joe Watts is reportedly in a medically induced coma after suffering a major accident on the set of the film.

The “serious head injury” accident occurred on Monday (July 22) at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studio in Hertfordshire, England.

Joe was reportedly injured when he “leapt from a balcony attached to a safety wire,” THR reports. There are reports circulating that Joe might be Vin Diesel’s stunt double but that is apparently not accurate.

Joe‘s fiancee also apparently said he is “stable but in an induced coma.”

Joe has worked on numerous films including Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Jurassic World – Fallen Kingdom, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Production was quickly halted by Universal after the injury occurred.

We’re wishing Joe all the best during this time.

A stuntman was reportedly injured on the set of Fast & Furious 9, which is currently in production.

“We had an injury on the set of Fast 9 today in Leavesden with one of our stuntmen,” a representative told Just Jared in a statement. “We have halted production for the day to focus on this situation.”

THR is also reporting that the stuntman suffered a head injury and their condition is not yet known. Police and paramedics were called to Leavesden Studios in the U.K. on Monday (July 22).

Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, John Cena, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron are set to star in the upcoming film, which is currently set for release on May 22, 2020.

We’re wishing those involved in this accident well, and we will update when more is announced.

Vin Diesel took to Instagram on Thursday (June 27) to share a video of Jordana – who plays his on-screen sister, Mia Toretto – and the young actor playing his son during a break onset.

“Day 4!!! Grateful to make magic… with angels abound. Fast9-2020,” Vin captioned the below video.

Jordana has appeared in five previous Fast & Furious films, but sat of the eighth installment The Fate of the Furious.

After the tragic death of Paul Walker in 2013, his and Jordana‘s characters were written off at the end of Furious 7, where they decided to go into retirement to raise their family.

Fast & Furious 9 is slated to hit theaters May 22, 2020.
