Rihanna's 'Diamonds' Almost Went to Eminem First!

Rihanna‘s “Diamonds” is a global smash – and it almost wasn’t her song.

The 2012 track nearly went to Eminem, producer Benny Blanco revealed during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music.

The track, which he wrote and produced with Stargate and Sia, was originally intended for Kanye West or Lana Del Rey.

Stargate’s like, ‘Yo, we’re giving this song to Rihanna. It’s going to go.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know, man. Should we keep the beat for Kanye? I don’t know about it,’” Benny explained.

He said he also submitted the song to Eminem‘s camp for consideration, and he even recorded the song.

“I remember, at the same time, I had given a beat CD like a month earlier to Paul Rosenberg to give to Eminem. And apparently, Eminem had done a song to it, too. And I didn’t even know. And I’m sitting there… Dude, so when it happened, Paul was like, ‘Man, Em had that beat on hold.’ I was like, ‘What? I didn’t even know.’”

“I’m sitting there, and then I finally am like, ‘You know what, Stargate?’ I let go. I said, ‘You guys know better. Let’s do it.’ She cut the song. First of all, the second she cut the song, they were completely right. I was like, ‘This is the best song I’ve ever done,’” he admitted when he finally decided to go with Rihanna.

Kanye ended up on the remix to “Diamonds,” anyway.

“And then, this is how life works, full circle. Kanye West does a remix to the song,” he said.

Eminem Addresses TikTok Users Trying to Cancel Him in New Rap 'Tone Deaf' - Read the Lyrics & Listen Now

Eminem is calling out the haters.

Recently, Generation Z users on TikTok have been trying to cancel the 48-year-old rapper over some of his past controversial lyrics, which seemed to glorify domestic violence and homophobia.

Now, Eminem is addressing the situation in his new rap “Tone Deaf.”

“I won’t stop even when my hair turns grey (I’m tone-deaf) / ‘Cause they won’t stop until they cancel me,” Eminem raps.

“My enemies, I’m a chimney, give me the smoke, opps / And R.I.P. to King Von, and it don’t stop, and I know not,” Eminem continues. “What the f–k you say? I told y’all, it ain’t me, it’s my alter ego’s fault / But if y’all wanna cancel me, no prob / I’ll tell you the same thing I told Paul (Woo).”

In his new song “Zeus,” Eminem apologized to this star for the past comments he made about them.

Eminem Explains His Past Rihanna Comment & Why He Publicly Apologized to Her in 'Zeus'

Eminem recently called into his SiriusXM channel Shade 45 and spoke with SiriusXM’s Gray Rizzy about his decision to publicly apologize to his former collaborator Rihanna.

If you missed it, in late 2019, an alleged, unreleased Eminem song was leaked on the Internet. In the leaked audio, a brief snippet called “Things Get Worse (Rihanna Diss),” Eminem says: “I’d side with Chris Brown, I’d beat down a b-h too,” seemingly referring to Chris and Rihanna‘s 2009 physical altercation.

Eminem‘s rep actually responded to the rumor at the time, but about 13 months later, Eminem released a public apology to Rihanna in the song “Zeus” on his new album Music to Be Murdered By – Side B.

Now, Eminem is explaining what happened at the time and why he apologized.

“When it first happened, I was like, first, I didn’t know how, how somebody got it. Second of all, I have no, zero recollection of even remembering doing that, that verse, like the rhyme schemes didn’t even sound like familiar to me. So I was caught off guard too. I was like, ‘what the f*ck, I said that?’” Eminem recalled.

He continued, “And that was, you know, that was during early like stages of the ‘Relapse’ record that I was working on. So, you know, it’s 10 plus years old, but not making excuses for it. I said it and I was wrong for saying that it was f*cking stupid, you know, a lot of times, especially with the ‘Relapse’ record, when I first started learning how to rap again, because of the drug situation that I went through and having to relearn a lot of things, that was one of those things that it was like, well, if it rhymes say it, I think that being able to look back, I mean, that’s not even an excuse, but I’m just saying like that there was a phase I was going through with that ‘Relapse’ record.”

Eminem added, “I don’t know. It was one of those things. I think I just said it cause it rhymed. And I think I’m sure looking back now, I should have thought better of it.”

Eminem Apologizes to Rihanna Over Past Comments on New Album

Eminem has decided to apologize to Rihanna.

Last year, a song written by the 48-year-old rapper was leaked, where he sided with Chris Brown after he assaulted the 32-year-old entertainer back in 2009.

“Of course I side with Chris Brown / I’d beat a bitch down too,” Eminem rapped on the track.

Eminem‘s lyrics really shocked fans since he and Rihanna had collaborated several times over the years.

In the song “Zeus” on his new album Music to Be Murdered By – Side B, Eminem apologizes to Rihanna for his comments.

“But, me, long as I re-promise to be honest / And wholeheartedly, apologies, Rihanna,” Eminem raps. “For that song that leaked, I’m sorry, Ri / It wasn’t meant to cause you grief. Regardless, it was wrong of me.”
