Dennis Quaid Fires Back After Participating in Trump's COVID-19 Ad: 'It Was in No Way Political'

Dennis Quaid is firing back at reports that he took part in a $300 million Donald Trump ad about the Coronavirus pandemic.

The campaign is reportedly to help the country “defeat despair” (and it’s important to mention that Dennis did praise Trump‘s response to the pandemic months ago).

Amid the backlash, Dennis took to Instagram to record a video explaining.

“It was in no way political,” Dennis said, adding he was not paid for his involvement. “I did a PSA for Dr. Anthony Fauci and he was kind enough to grant me an interview as well, and the interview and the PSA were about raising awareness of COVID-19 and what we can still do to prevent lives being lost to this terrible, terrible virus. It was about the importance of wearing a mask and social distancing and it was in no way political. In fact, Dr. Anthony Fauci and I both talked about it before that it was not to be political, as the virus is not political.”

Dennis captioned his video, “NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPOLITICIZED”

Donald Trump seems to have some celebrity support in the 2020 election.

Dennis Quaid to Appear in Trump's COVID-19 Ad Campaign, Which Will Reportedly Cost $300 Million

Donald Trump‘s health department is reportedly launching an advertising campaign to to “defeat despair” about the coronavirus and Dennis Quaid is one of the celebrities who will appear in the ads.

The ad campaign is reportedly going to cost $300 million and will involve celebrities interviewing administration officials about the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic, according to Politico.

Quaid, who has previously praised Trump‘s handling of the pandemic, has been paired up with Dr. Anthony Fauci.

A spokesperson for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases confirmed that “[a]t the request of HHS, Dr. Fauci did an interview with Dennis Quaid for a PSA campaign.”

Gospel singer CeCe Winans did an interview with Surgeon General Jerome Adams. After the news went wide, she went on Instagram and said, “I was asked a couple of weeks ago to do an interview with the surgeon general, Jerome Adams, about the coronavirus. And this interview stresses how important it is for everyone to wear a mask, and it also gives us other instructions on how to get on the other side of this pandemic. It was not political at all. We have lost so many lives because of COVID-19. Let’s all do everything we can so we won’t lose any more. God bless you.”

It was reported that the Health and Human Services Department has also pursued Dr. Oz and Garth Brooks to appear in the campaign.

Dennis Quaid Originally Thought There Were Two Actresses Playing Lindsay Lohan's Annie & Hallie in 'Parent Trap'

Lindsay Lohan reunited with most of her Parent Trap over the weekend for a virtual reunion that raised money for the World Central Kitchen.

During their virtual chat, Lindsay chatted with Dennis Quaid, Elaine Hendrix, Lisa Ann Walter, and Simon Kunz, along with director Nancy Meyers and writer-producer Charles Shyer with host Katie Couric about the movie.

After paying tributes to the late Natasha Richardson, Nancy and Charles opened up about casting Lindsay for the roles as Hallie and Annie.

“Within two or three minutes, we both knew she had the part,” Charles shared. “She was just amazing.”

Nancy added, “Putting aside how adorable she looked, she had that quality that just sort of leapt up at you and pulled you in. I think to be a movie star and to be the lead of a movie, you need to have that connection with the camera, that screen presence. We discovered a big star. We discovered somebody that everybody fell in love with.”

Dennis also admitted at one point that he thought there might have been two girls for the twins, only to find out it was just Lindsay.

“I had such a blast doing this movie. The first thing I remember was meeting Lindsay at some kind of screen test… I remember thinking, ‘Oh my gosh. This is one of the most talented people I’ve ever met. Period. Forget that she’s 11 years old,’” he said.

He added, “I actually thought that there were two girls. I really did because your accent was so perfect… You were a natural. You just fell right into it.”

Dennis Quaid Calls 'Dog's Purpose' Video A 'Scam' For Inciting Abuse

Dennis Quaid is opening up more about the controversial video which showed that one of the dogs on the set of A Dog’s Purpose was being abused.

During his new podcast, the 66-year-old actor called the video a scam and very misleading.

“What happened was the dog jumps into the water … there were divers, scuba divers, three of them, underneath the water,” Dennis shared. “One of the trainers reached down to give the dog a rest, and he pulled him up, and it looks like he’s pulling him up and choking him by the collar.”

He continued, “What it doesn’t show is that there’s a table right below the dog, so the dog can rest his feet on the table. He’s not just being held up.”

The video in question raised concerns for the canine actors after it was released just prior to the film hitting theaters in 2017.

He “goes under, and that’s where the guy cuts,” Dennis added of the moment the video was doctored. “Well there were two divers waiting for him right there, it wasn’t even a second and a half.”

“They lifted him up, handed him to the trainer right by the pool and the dog didn’t even wait to get a collar on, he ran right to the other side of the pool to do it again. He loved it.”

An independent investigation later agreed that no animals were harmed on the set.
