Netflix Removes 'Chappelle's Show' At Request of Dave Chappelle - Here's Why

Dave Chappelle‘s Comedy Central show, Chappelle’s Show, was removed from Netflix overnight at the request of the comedian. Why? Dave made it clear that Viacom-CBS hasn’t paid him a dime.

“They (ViacomCBS) didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract,” Dave said in a lengthy video. “But is that right? I found out that these people were streaming my work and they never had to ask me or they never have to tell me. Perfectly legal ‘cause I signed the contract. But is that right? I didn’t think so either. That’s why I like working for Netflix. I like working for Netflix because when all those bad things happened to me, that company didn’t even exist. And when I found out they were streaming ‘Chappelle’s Show,’ I was furious. How could they not– how could they not know? So you know what I did? I called them and I told them that this makes me feel bad. And you want to know what they did? They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better.”

You can currently stream Chappelle‘s Show on HBO Max, Comedy Central and CBS All Access. Dave currently has a deal with Netflix for standup specials. Find out who Dave called out in one of his Netflix specials.

Dave Chappelle Calls Out White People That Don't Wear Masks in 'SNL' Monologue - Watch

Dave Chappelle got very real during his Saturday Night Live monologue.

While hosting the show on Saturday (November 7), the 47-year-old comedian addressed Donald Trump‘s White supporters who don’t wear masks during the coronavirus pandemic, while giving them a lesson in Black history.

“You don’t even want to wear your mask because it’s oppressive? Try wearing the mask I’ve been wearing all these years!” Dave said. “I can’t even tell something true unless it has a punchline behind it. You guys aren’t ready. You’re not ready for this. You don’t know how to survive yourselves. In fact, we’re the only ones that know how to survive this. Whites come, hurry, quick, come get your n—a lessons.”

In the cold open, SNL and Alec Baldwin imagined Trump‘s concession speech after losing the election.

Dave Chappelle Calls Out Don Lemon In New '8:46' Comedy Special & Don Responds

Don Lemon agrees with everything that Dave Chappelle said in his new comedy special for Netflix, called 8:46, in honor of George Floyd.

In the special, Dave called out Don who put big name celebrities on blast for not using their platform to speak out on racial injustice issues.

“This is the streets talking for themselves. They don’t need me right now. I kept my mouth shut. But don’t think that my silence is complicit…Why would anyone care what their favorite comedian thinks after they saw a police officer kneel on a man’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds?” Dave said in the special.

Don responded to the dig, and agreed with him on his stance.

“I actually agree with Dave Chappelle,” he on CNN’s New Day. “I think that the young people who are out there in the streets don’t really care what we [in the establishment] have to say.”

Don continued, “[This is] a moment that we should all be using our platform to do whatever we can…but he’s talking about this issue, and I think it’s great. He’s using his platform to talk about this in the way that he can.”
