Pop Stars Who Starred in Action Movies

Pop stars know how to handle stadiums full of fans – but can they hold up during long chase scenes and beat up enemies on the big screen too? As it turns out: yes!

From Rihanna to Kylie Minogue to Harry Styles, some of our favorite music stars also took on roles in action movies, successfully crossing over into a whole different world.

And while the films aren’t all exactly critical darlings, it’s still cool to see our favorite performers branching out and taking on new challenges – especially with tons of special effects and impressive choreographed fight scenes.

Spotify Has Removed A Ton Of K-Pop Artists From The Platform - Here's Why

It has been revealed that certain K-Pop artists are no longer on Spotify, according to NME.

The site is reporting that reason is because Spotify is in discussion with distributor Kakao M.

Spotify officially launched in South Korea earlier this month, but did so without music from artists with licensing deals under Kakao M.

Kakao M’s catalogue would no longer be available to users around the globe from March 1, 2021 “due to the expiration of our license,” a statement on the site says.

“We have been working with KakaoM over the last year and a half to renew the global licensing agreement, so that their artists’ music would remain available to Spotify’s 345M+ listeners in nearly 170 markets around the world,” they added. “Despite our best efforts, the existing licensing deal we had with KakaoM (which covered all countries other than South Korea) has come to an end.”

“The fact that we have not yet reached agreement on a new global deal is unfortunate for their artists, as well as for fans and listeners worldwide. It is our hope that this disruption will be temporary and we can resolve the situation soon. We remain committed to working with local rights holders including KakaoM, to help grow the Korean music market and overall streaming ecosystem together.”

The artists affected by this deal include CL, The Boyz, GFriend, Epik High, IU, Cherry Bullet, Cravity, Mamamoo, Nu’est and many more.

Seventeen was another big group affected by this, and a fan Twitter revealed that the group have lost nearly 1billion streams after their music was removed from Spotify.

CL Says The K-Pop Industry Is 'Inspired by Black Culture, Whether They Acknowledge It Or Not'

CL is speaking out in support of Black Lives Matter.

The 29-year-old 2NE1 member and solo star posted a message on her Instagram on Thursday (June 4) amid protests globally following the murder of George Floyd against systemic racism and police brutality.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was the first album my dad bought me. Beyonce‘s Dangerously In Love was the first CD I bought for myself. Janet Jackson taught me the power of movement of dance and expression. Missy Elliott is why I am so obsessed with my video visuals. Lil Kim was one of Fashion’s pioneers that taught me how to be fearless in how I tell stories through clothes…Aaliyah is the reason why I still wear baggy pants and combat boots on stage,” she wrote.

“Some of the biggest inspirations for 2NE1 were Destiny’s Child and TLC. These are just some of the examples of the core women who have inspired me over the years. Artists, directors, writers, dancers, designers, producers, stylists in the K-Pop industry are all inspired by black culture whether they acknowledge it or not,” she continued.

“I would like to encourage all K-Pop fans to give back and show their love and support for all that we have received from Black artists. I want to explain to all the K-pop fans, fellow Asians, and non-Americans who feel like they have little or no connection to what’s happening that we all are connected at the end of the day. And don’t we, Asians living abroad, also face enough racism to the point where we are numb and sick of it? We must stand up together as one helping them fight for justice. It’s never too late. Let’s send them love and support by caring, elevating Black voices, educating ourselves, and bringing awareness to people around you.”

Here are Black Lives Matter resources and how you can help support the cause.

Lizzo and Ezra Miller are absolutely stunning in these campaign pics for Urban Decay‘s brand new beauty campaign, “Pretty Different”.

The three stars, along with Joey King, Karol G and CL, will serve as advocates and “trailblazers who refuse to accept forced standards and instead champion uniqueness” with the campaign.

“‘Pretty Different’ is our anthem for fellow makeup junkies who don’t subscribe to beauty standards,” Wende Zomnir, Urban Decay’s Founding Partner, shared in a statement. “It’s our tribute to individuality because everyone is pretty different. It’s our approach to reinventing what it means to be a beauty brand.”

She adds, “Our UD Citizens are dynamic, global voices that stand up for what they believe in. They are the true definition of ‘Pretty Different’ and embody the spirit of UD. Because being different doesn’t only mean being ‘weird’ or going against the status quo—it means you being you.”
