American Sniper has officially become the top grossing movie released in 2014!

The film has now grossed $337.21 million in its domestic run, topping The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which has grossed $336.796 million so far.

While American Sniper, which stars Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller, didn’t open in wide release until mid-January, it was released in limited theaters on December 25, 2014.

The film has grossed over $475 million worldwide and it was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture.

The verdict has been announced in the Chris Kyle murder trial and his killer Eddie Ray Routh has been found guilty.

Chris was the subject of the film American Sniper and he was tragically gunned down in February 2013 by Routh, a veteran who he was trying to help. The verdict was decided by a jury in less than two and a half hours.

Mr. Routh will be spending the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole. He also took to life of Chris‘ friend Chad Littlefield.

Chris‘ wife Taya Kyle stepped out at the Oscars over the weekend to support the movie, which was nominated for Best Picture and five other awards.

The 40-year-old activist is the real-life wife of Chris Kyle, the subject of the movie American Sniper.

Taya was at the show to support the movie, which was nominated for six awards including Best Picture. While it didn’t win the big prize of the night, it did pick up the award for Best Sound Editing.

The 40-year-old actor is nominated for Best Actor this year for his work in the movie American Sniper.

Bradley plays the real life Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who was tragically killed exactly two years ago. This day was just officially declared as “Chris Kyle Day” by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

“He had the guts to stand up and defend this country,” Abbott told Fox News.

If you don’t know yet, Taya is the widow of Chris Kyle, the late Navy SEAL that the movie American Sniper is based on.

American Sniper is being released this weekend with Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper playing the real life Chris Kyle, a United States Navy SEAL who was tragically killed two years ago.

Chris, who was 38 at the time of his death, served as a Navy SEAL from 1999 to 2009, with four tours served in the latest Iraq war. Chris is known as the most successful sniper in American military history, with 160 confirmed kills and 255 claimed kills. Chris also received many military honors including the Bronze and Silver Star.

During his time in Iraq, Chris‘ wife Taya Kyle gave birth to their son. Chris made the decision to leave the SEALS and was honorably discharged in 2009.

On February 2, 2013, Chris and a friend Chad Littlefield were both shot at Rough Creek Ranch-Lodge-Resort in Texas by Marine Corps veteran Eddie Ray Routh. Chris and Chad were attempting to help him cope with PTSD at the time.

American Sniper, also starring Sienna Miller, hits theaters nationwide tomorrow.

The 40-year-old actor made an appearance on The Today Show that morning to promote his new movie American Sniper and responded to complaints he is too handsome to play the late Chris Kyle.

“The first job I’ve ever got was on Alias, and I was not the … good-looking guy,” Bradley said. “I was the sidekick, best friend. And in Wedding Crashers, I was the jerk. So, no, I never sort of suffered that ‘oh, he’s too handsome’ [problem] ever.”
