Cheryl Burke Says Every Partner She Had Was 'Abusive' Until She Met Matthew Lawrence

Cheryl Burke is opening up about her history of being in abusive relationships and how meeting her now-husband Matthew Lawrence changed everything for her.

The 36-year-old Dancing With the Stars pro shared a YouTube video this week, which she titled “My Experience with Abusive Relationships.”

That same day, singer FKA twigs came forward with allegations of abuse during her relationship with Shia LaBeouf and she filed a lawsuit against the actor.

“Even after I graduated high school and into my professional dancing career, I was still into those types of bad-boy relationships, and I continued on the pattern of dating abusive men,” Cheryl said in the video. “I also was abusing myself by drinking too much and just really had no respect for myself, which I’ll be talking more about as well in future videos.”

Cheryl Burke Calls Out 'DWTS' Scoring as 'Not Consistent'

AJ McLean and his pro partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated from Dancing with the Stars last night.

Cheryl had some words about the scoring after being very confident she and her celeb partner would move on to the semi-finals no problem.

“There’s rules in ballroom, and as far a I’m concerned this is a ballroom show, I thought,” Cheryl told ET, saying scoring week to week with the contestants is “just not consistent.”

“I already had his other two routines choreographed for the Semi-Finals,” Cheryl continued. “Normally I’m not that confident going in, but I was like, ‘For sure, there’s no way [we'll get eliminated].’”

On getting eliminated, AJ said, “I’ve always been one to bow out from whatever the situation is with ease and grace and with a lot of gratitude. Honest to God, I’ve made a lot of great friends here, both on the stage and off the stage.”

He added, “It still sucks, it’s a major bummer, but there’s also kind of a sense of relief and calmness as well, because life goes on,” he added. “And my wife has been holding down the fort like a trooper… because this is seven days a week, every week.”

Cheryl Burke Hints It Might Be Time For Her To Retire From 'Dancing With The Stars'

Cheryl Burke could be hanging up her dancing shoes sooner rather than later.

The 36-year-old pro on Dancing With The Stars opened up during an episode of Barstool Sports’ Chicks in the Office podcast this week and hinted that the end could be near for her.

“My hips don’t lie, and I’m starting to get tendonitis. For a woman, as far as ballroom dancing competitively goes, normally in their 30s [they retire],” Cheryl shared when asked how long she saw herself doing the show for. “I’m 36, so it’s like, ‘Okay, time to hang up those shoes.’ ”

She also joked that she didn’t want to be “that oldie that’s like, ‘Oh, here comes Cheryl doing the same choreography, just going slow, but in her head, she thinks she’s going that fast.’ I also don’t want to, I guess, be a dancer and have my partner having to be, like, ‘Can’t lift.’ … There’s a time and a place for it all.”

Cheryl was the first pro to win back-to-back mirrored ball trophies in season two with Drew Lachey and season three with Emmitt Smith.

She’s currently competing with AJ McLean this season. Just last week, she suffered a major injury in the ballroom.

DWTS Pro Cheryl Burke Might Not Perform Tonight After Suffering Head Injury

Cheryl Burke may or may not be dancing tonight on Dancing With The Stars.

People reports that the 36-year-old pro dancer, who is paired with Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean, suffered a head injury during rehearsals over the weekend.

In a clip from their rehearsal, it looks like Cheryl lost her footing and it caused her head to slam against the ballroom floor.

“Cheryl and I were practicing during stage rehearsal and it did not go well,” AJ shared in the short video. “It happened so fast, I just heard her head hit the floor.”

The site reports that a medic was called and examined her on scene.

While Cheryl was advised to take the rest of the day off, it is still unknown if the pro will be well enough to perform during tonight’s show.

Cheryl and AJ are set to perform a tango set to “Psycho” by the Intermezzo Orchestra.
