Joey King stuns on the red carpet at the premiere of her new Hulu series The Act on Thursday night (March 14) at the Whitby Hotel in New York City.

The 19-year-old actress was joined at the event by co-stars Patricia Arquette, Chloe Sevigny, AnnaSophia Robb, and Calum Worthy.

Also in attendance were executive producers Michelle Dean and Nick Antosca, as well as director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre. Ben Stiller stepped out to support Patricia, who he worked with on Escape at Dannemora.

The Act premieres on Hulu on March 20!

During the interview, the 19-year-old actress was asked about the emotional toll it took to play Gypsy Blanchard.

“Mentally, it was draining. I felt so vulnerable every day when I would step on set. I genuinely could not have done it without Calum. I relied on him so much when it came to those tense emotional scenes. I knew he would be there for me and I hope he knew I would always be there for him,” Joey said. “It was a lot, but in saying that, it was one of the most special projects I’ve ever worked on, experience-wise.”

Calum added, “It was incredible seeing her transform because as soon as she was on set as Gypsy, it was like I was talking to Gypsy. It was amazing. Of course, at lunch [she] was her bubbly self, cracking jokes and making the crew laugh… it made the crew focus and feel like we were making something cool.”

The Act begins streaming on Hulu on March 20.

Calum Worthy is joining the cast of the upcoming Hulu anthology series The Act‘s first season.

The season is based on writer Michelle Dean‘s 2016 Buzzfeed article “Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter to Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom to Be Murdered.”

The story follows “Gypsy Blanchard (Joey King), a girl trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother, Dee Dee (Patricia Arquette). Her quest for independence opens a Pandora’s box of secrets, one that ultimately leads to murder.”

Calum will be playing Nick, who Gypsy meets on a Christian dating website, according to Deadline. Their sweet love affair quickly turns into something darker.

The series just began production in Georgia.

Calum has previously starred in the Disney Channel series Austin & Ally and the Netflix series American Vandal.

American Vandal is a half-hour true-crime satire that explores the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left twenty-seven faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. Over the course of the eight-episode season, an aspiring sophomore documentarian investigates the controversial and potentially unjust expulsion of troubled senior (and known d–k-drawer) Dylan Maxwell. Not unlike its now iconic true-crime predecessors, the addictive American Vandal will leave one question on everyone’s minds until the very end: Who drew the d–ks?
