Ryan Murphy's 'The Prom' Is Coming to Netflix - Read the Reviews!

Ryan Murphy‘s The Prom doesn’t hit Netflix until December 11, but the reviews are already in!

The star-studded cast for the film includes Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Andrew Rannells, Keegan-Michael Key, Kerry Washington, Ariana DeBose, and newcomer Jo Ellen Pellman.

PHOTOS: Check out the latest pics of James Corden

Here is the synopsis: Dee Dee Allen (Streep) and Barry Glickman (Corden) are New York City stage stars with a crisis on their hands: their expensive new Broadway show is a major flop that has suddenly flatlined their careers. Meanwhile, in small-town Indiana, high school student Emma Nolan (Pellman) is experiencing a very different kind of heartbreak: despite the support of the high school principal (Key), the head of the PTA (Washington) has banned her from attending the prom with her girlfriend, Alyssa (DeBose).

When Dee Dee and Barry decide that Emma’s predicament is the perfect cause to help resurrect their public images, they hit the road with Angie (Kidman) and Trent (Rannells), another pair of cynical actors looking for a professional lift. But when their self-absorbed celebrity activism unexpectedly backfires, the foursome find their own lives upended as they rally to give Emma a night where she can truly celebrate who she is.

Tony-Nominated Director Michael Arden Is Bringing 'A Christmas Carol' to Life Like Never Before - For a Great Cause!

Are you a Broadway fan who has been missing live theater in 2020? Or do you enjoy watching timeless stories be told in inventive new ways? Well, then we have your weekend plans settled!

The highly anticipated live capture recording of A Christmas Carol, directed by Tony nominee Michael Arden, is now available to stream from your own home.

The timeless tale of Ebenezer Scrooge comes to thrilling new life with Tony winner Jefferson Mays playing over 50 roles. This filmed version is based on the acclaimed 2018 production, which premiered at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles.

The streaming event will benefit partner theaters all around the United States that have been devastated by the pandemic. Community, amateur, and regional theaters were provided materials that allowed them to market A Christmas Carol directly to their subscribers and single ticket buyers. Proceeds from ticket sales will be distributed accordingly, providing crucial funding during theater’s darkest hour.

Michael said in a statement, “My theater career began when I was a 10-year-old Texan playing Tiny Tim in the Midland Community Theatre production of A Christmas Carol. In a time when theaters and arts workers across the country are in great need, bringing a story that celebrates the power of creativity, community, and our shared humanity is humbling.”

Jefferson is best known for his work in the stage shows I Am My Own Wife and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. He also has appeared in TV shows like Perry Mason, I Am the Night, and Law & Order: SVU.

Michael launched his career on Broadway as an actor before moving into his current role as a groundbreaking director. He received Tony nominations for helming the recent revivals of Spring Awakening and Once on This Island.

Broadway Stars Slam Actor Chad Kimball for Saying He'll Disobey COVID-19 Safety Orders

The Broadway community is slamming Tony-nominated actor Chad Kimball for saying that he will disobey the governor’s orders for COVID-19 safety.

Washington’s Governor Inslee just announced restrictions on religious services.

“Religious services will be limited to whichever is smaller: 25% occupancy indoors or fewer than 200 people. Choirs, bands, and ensembles won’t perform during services, but soloists will be able to. Facial coverings will be required for congregation members, who won’t be allowed to sing,” the governor’s office announced.

Chad wrote on Twitter, “Respectfully, I will never allow a Governor, or anyone, to stop me from SINGING, let alone sing in worship to my God. Folks, absolute POWER corrupts ABSOLUTELY. This is not about safety. It’s about POWER. I will respectfully disobey these unlawful orders.”

For those that don’t know, Chad had his breakout role on Broadway while playing a cow in Into the Woods. He later received a Tony nomination for the show Memphis and most recently was starring in the Tony-winning musical Come From Away until the Broadway shutdown.

Chad was one of many Broadway actors who tested positive for coronavirus back in March, right when the pandemic was hitting New York City badly. Broadway shows have been shut down since March 12, 2020 and they will be closed until at least May 30, 2021. There’s still a chance the shows will go dark even longer than that.

Members of the Broadway community, including many well-known stars, are calling out Chad for supporting a dangerous view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The community is working hard to make sure we can end the pandemic and people in the live theater industry can safely go back to work after months and months of hardship.

Sharon Wheatley, who was in the original Broadway cast of Come From Away with Chad, tweeted, “I respectfully totally and completely disagree with you. I respectfully feel you are very much on the wrong side of this. I FaceTimed with you when you had Covid, Chad. You were very sick. I remember. It scared me. I love you like a brother, but I disagree with you. ♥️”

Tony nominee Eva Noblezada, married Broadway stars Patti Murin and Colin Donnell, Billy Eichner, and many more have called Chad out on Twitter.

Read all of the tweets below. While some of them didn’t name Chad directly or reply directly to his tweet, they seemingly are all about the actor.
