Alec Baldwin's Daughter Ireland Speaks to Hilaria Baldwin's Infamous Cucumber Moment

Ireland Baldwin came to her step mother Hilaria Baldwin‘s defense amid the controversy surrounding her heritage and her accent.

If you don’t know, Hilaria has been accused of faking an accent and pretending she is from Spain, when she was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Hilaria herself has issued a response to this controversy, saying, “I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain. My parents and sibling live in Spain and I chose to live here, in the USA. We celebrate both cultures in our home—Alec and I are raising our children bilingual, just as I was raised. This is very important to me. I understand that my story is a little different, but it is mine, and I’m very proud of it.”

One moment keeps popping up online that has everyone talking and this is the infamous “cucumber” moment. In a clip from a cooking segment on the Today show years and years ago, Hilaria suggested that she forgot the English word for “cucumber.” You can watch the clip here.

Ireland, who had already defended her stepmother in a series of videos, took to the comments section of Hilaria‘s personal Instagram to issue some responses to the controversy. One of the comments referenced the infamous cucumber moment.

Ireland Baldwin Defends Stepmom Hilaria Baldwin Amid Heritage Controversy

Ireland Baldwin is weighing in on the controversy surrounding her stepmom.

On Sunday (December 27), Hilaria Baldwin was the topic of major debate on social media, after people started questioning her Spanish accent and heritage.

The 36-year-old wife of Alec Baldwin then released a message regarding the debate saying, “This is very important to me. I understand that my story is a little different, but it is mine, and I’m very proud of it.”

Alec‘s eldest daughter, whom he shares with ex Kim Basinger, is defending Hilaria amid the social media controversy.

“It’s so pathetic that anyone would want to play detective and dig that deep into someone’s life they don’t know anything about, don’t know how they were raised, don’t know who they were actually raised by,” the 27-year-old model said in an Instagram Story. “It’s just kind of sad and pathetic. And also, it’s like the holidays, people are depressed, people are going through a lot. I know I’m going through a lot personally. And the last thing we really need to do is start shit and gossip about something is just so, so stupid. And about someone that nobody even really knows.”

Ireland continued: “She could be a malicious, terrible, horrible human who tears people down but she isn’t. Hilaria is a wonderful mother who takes great care of her kids and she takes great care of my dad and that’s all that really matters to me.”

Amid the controversy, Hilaria said that she will be taking a “long” break from social media.

As Trump, Alec started off his speech by claiming that he was re-elected as president.

“As anyone who died halfway through Tuesday knows, I was re-elected president of the United States,” Alec said, while pointing to a map of the U.S. and boasted about how red the states were – only to realize it was a COVID map.

He then chanted, “Stop the count!” until he was told off-screen that he was actually behind, then he started chanting, “Count every vote!”

Before the new episode of SNL aired, Alec reacted to Trump losing the election saying that he’s so happy to not have to play the soon-to-be ex president again.

“Everybody’s asking me this question. I don’t know. I’ve said in the past that I was done when I wasn’t done. I think, right now, I’m so tired,” Hilaria shared. “And I feel, just with COVID, it’s just insanity.”

Just moments after, husband Alec declared they were done: “We’re oh-so-done.”

“I want to ask you that in two hours, and we’ll see what you say. I’ll ask you in two hours,” Hilaria told him, before added that “during times of COVID, it very much feels like we’re done.”
