Cyndi Lauper Gave a Bizarre New Year's Eve Performance & Twitter Has Lots of Thoughts!

Cyndi Lauper‘s performance on the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special has fans scratching their heads because they can’t quite comprehend what they watched.

The legendary entertainer first hit the stage with Billy Porter, the star of her Broadway show Kinky Boots, for a duet of “True Colors.”

After the performance, the cameras never cut away from Cyndi, but her glam squad went on stage to touch up her hair and makeup. While they were fixing her up, she shooed them away and said, “I’m on camera. I’m on camera.”

Cyndi then gave a short speech about having “hope” while heading into 2021 and she then performed her song “Hope,” which has an EDM feel.

“See me untethered / See me now / And see us together,” Cyndi sang while a DJ bopped up and down behind her.

Ryan Seacrest, Lucy Hale, & Billy Porter Are Hosting the New Year's Eve Special in a Nearly Empty Times Square!

The 2021 Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special is happening live in Times Square right now with hosts Ryan Seacrest, Lucy Hale, and Billy Porter appearing in New York City!

Even though Times Square is nearly empty this year due to the pandemic, the TV shows are still broadcasting live from the historic location.

Billy, who is best known for his Emmy-winning performance in FX’s Pose and his Tony and Grammy-winning work in Broadway’s Kinky Boots, showed off his musical talents during the show. He performed twice, including a duet of “True Colors” with Cyndi Lauper.

“It was a big year for sweatpants. Decided to give my favorite pair a well-deserved break tonight. #RockinEve,” Ryan tweeted with a photo of his outfit.

If you’re wondering, the few people allowed to watch the ball drop in Times Square this year are all first responders and essential workers who were all selected to receive the special tickets.

FYI: Ryan is wearing Taft shoes. Billy is wearing a gray Rick Owens coat. He is wearing a Botter suit under the red coat.

NeNe Leakes Is Seemingly Boycotting Andy Cohen's NYE Show Amid Issues with Bravo

NeNe Leakes is seemingly asking fans to boycott the CNN New Year’s Eve special amid her feud with host Andy Cohen.

Andy and his longtime best friend Anderson Cooper are hosting the CNN show this year and while NeNe didn’t point out which show to boycott, it seems she’s referring to that one.

“Be Smart and DO NOT SUPPORT count down shows TONIGHT that aren’t supporting or respecting BLACK WOMEN creativity/equality and blacklisting us from working if we speak the truth abt their wrong doings,” NeNe tweeted on New Year’s Eve.

“Don’t believe me, believe your eyes,” NeNe continued. “In 2021, we will form a March outside of these racist studios #blackwomenmatter.”

What Does 'Auld Lang Syne' Mean? Read Song Lyrics & Listen Now!

You’ve probably heard “Auld Lang Syne” every New Year’s Eve, but are you still wondering what it means? The literal translation of the phrase is “old long since,” but the meaning is “days gone by.”

The song started off as a poem written down by Robert Burns in 1788, though it is believed that it was written before that date by someone else.

The song is interpreted to raise the question if it’s right to forget old times and never think of them again. It’s the perfect song for New Year’s Eve as we move into a new year and try to decide if we will look back at moments from the past year or forget them and move forward.

“Auld Lang Syne” has been covered in tons of movies like When Harry Met Sally, Sex and the City, New Year’s Eve, and more. Mariah Carey and Barbra Streisand are some of the iconic artists who have put their spin on the song.
