Whoopi Goldberg Reveals the Reason She Didn't Leave 'The View'

Whoopi Goldberg is opening up about the truth behind her decision to stay for another season at The View.

The 61-year-old actress, who has co-hosted The View for a decade, revealed to E! News that she nearly walked away from the gig – but her daughter, Alex Martin, ultimately changed her mind.

“I wasn’t coming back, but my daughter said I think that’s a mistake, because we’ve just had a major shakeup and I think you need to be in this conversation,” Whoopi explained.

“I never thought I would get in as much trouble as I seem to have gotten in. You have to be prepared for half the country to hate you every day. It’s a lot to carry but that’s why I try not to look back.”

The View airs weekdays on ABC.

“I want to make sure I’m able to spend enough time with my children,” she added. “I tried to be Superwoman, but I’m not…. I thank everybody”Whoopi, Joy…for welcoming me to this table. I’ve learned so much from you and I’m so grateful for you.”

Whoopi Goldberg Jokes About The View's Rotating Co-Hosts

The View returned on Tuesday (September 8) with all the brand new co-hosts – and Whoopi Goldberg made a joke about the numerous hosts coming and going on the talk show.

“Well, hell guys it’s nice to be back,” Whoopi said. “I do think though that cups would be nice.”

Joy Behar, who is back this season after leaving back in 2013, asked what was wrong.

“They’re cups, but where are the pictures of the faces? We used to have faces because people stuck around,” Whoopi said. Joy then quipped about the stickers on the mugs instead of their faces, “Well, this is in case they want to get rid of any of us. They can just pull this off!”

Joy Behar Is Returning to 'The View' as a Co-Host!

It was just announced that Joy Behar, one of the original co-hosts of The View, will be returning to the show!

“Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in. Plus, Steve was getting tired of applauding every time I gave my opinion. But I’m happy to be back home. And I’m looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics, especially now that Hillary and the Donald are in the spotlight,” the 72-year-old comedian said in a statement. Joy spent seasons 1-16 on the show.

Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris were also officially confirmed to join Joy, Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symoné and Michelle Collins on the show.

Contributors this season will include Sherri Shepherd, Molly Sims, Padma Lakshmi, Stacy London, and Ana Navarro, who will make rotating appearances.

'That's So Raven' Was Originally Called What? See The Cast Reunion From 'The View'!

Raven Symone hugs Orlando Brown and Anneliese Van Der Pol tight in this shot from the That’s So Raven reunion on The View on Friday morning (August 14).

The cast — along with Kyle Massey — got together to reminisce about the hit Disney Channel show and remembered that it wasn’t always called That’s So Raven.

“I think it was called Absolutely Psychic at the time,” Anneliese shared.

Raven added, “That was when I played the best friend, not the psychic, and then they changed it over…We had a really good time period. We captured stories that were touching to the people that were watching us. We talked about topics in a funny/serious way that you can relate to, and when you can relate to something, then more and more people talk about it.”
