Sydney Sweeney is taking on a new role.

The 23-year-old Euphoria actress is set to star in crime drama Silver Star, via Deadline on Wednesday (October 28).

Here’s a plot summary: “The film will chart the story of an unlikely couple: Buddy, a 20-year-old fresh out of jail, and Franny (Sweeney), a pregnant 19-year-old. After his botched robbery attempt at the bank that foreclosed on Buddy’s childhood home, he abducts her, triggering an unexpected journey together.”

The male lead has not yet been cast. Filming is scheduled for early 2021 in the United States.

“Sydney is an extraordinary actress who brings nuance and subtlety to each character she embodies. Her talent will allow her to metamorphose, with grace and talent into the very complex multifaceted Franny,” said director Ruben Amar.

Sydney is also set to star with a pop superstar in another upcoming project.

Halsey is breaking into the TV world.

The 25-year-old “Without Me” singer is set to make her acting debut alongside Euphoria‘s Sydney Sweeney in The Player’s Table, based on Jessica Goodman‘s novel They Wish They Were Us, THR reported Wednesday (September 9).

The show does not yet have a network attached. Halsey will also produce.

Here’s a plot summary: “The drama is set at an exclusive Long Island prep school and revolves around high school senior Jill Newman (Sweeney) who works to uncover the truth about her best friend’s death three years ago and the role she and her fellow ‘players’ — members of the secret society that rules the school— may have had in it.”

Halsey will play Rachel Calloway, “a formidable, emotionally troubled young woman who ignites Jill’s journey of finding the truth behind Shaila’s murder. Once a legendary member of The Players who graduated three years ago, Rachel left the group and dissociated from her wealthy Long Island roots when her younger brother, Graham, was convicted for Shaila’s murder. She is brought back to Long Island by her conviction that Graham is not responsible for this crime. Together, Rachel and Jill join forces to embark on a quest for the truth of what really happened that night, with the hope to exonerate her brother before he turns 18.”

Annabelle Attanasio (Mickey and the Bear) will write, direct and executive produce The Player’s Table.

Fans will remember that Halsey and Sydney also teamed for Halsey‘s music video for “Graveyard.” The duo “hit it off and Sweeney sent her the project, hoping that they’d work together again on it,” the outlet reports.

Halsey also just dropped something else for the first time!

Sydney Sweeney has some exciting news to announce!

The 22-year-old actress, best known for her work on Euphoria and The Handmaid’s Tale, has launched her own production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, and she has already set up her first project.

Sydney will produce and star in the upcoming television series The Players Table, an adaptation of the upcoming novel “They Wish They Were Us” by Jessica Goodman.

Mickey and the Bear‘s Annabelle Attanasio is attached to write, direct, and executive produce the project with Big Little Lies‘ Jean-Marc Vallée also attached to produce.

The storyline follows “high school senior Jill Newman, played by Sweeney, at her exclusive Long Island prep school as she works to uncover the truth about her best friend’s death and the role she and her fellow ‘players’—members of the secret society that rules the school—may have had in it,” according to Deadline.

Sydney provided the following statement: “Starting Fifty-Fifty Films has been a goal of mine for a long time. When I read ‘They Wish They Were Us’ I was instantly drawn to the specificity of the world and the struggles of the characters — and I knew it was the first project I wanted to produce. I’m really honored that Jean-Marc Vallée and Nathan Ross wanted to partner on this series. I’m getting to learn from the best. We are really thrilled to be working alongside an empowering filmmaker like Annabelle.”

Jean-Marc and Sydney previously worked together on the HBO limited series Sharp Objects.
