Awkwafina, Renee Zellweger, Lizzo & More Named 'Entertainment Weekly' Entertainers of the Year 2019!

Lizzo, Awkwafina and Renee Zellweger are on the cover of Entertainment Weekly‘s January 2020 issue, out on newsstands on December 20.

The stars were all named Entertainers of the Year by EW, along with Regina King, Taika Waititi and the cast of HBO’s Succession.

Here’s what they had to say…

Lizzo, on her “overnight success”: “Everybody says that and I’m like, ‘It took 10 years to get to this point!’ Mainstream success happens very fast, and that’s why people think it’s overnight… but it’s cool, y’all are going to discover my discography, dig deeper. You’re gonna see some pictures of me back when I was wearing $20 wigs.”

Awkwafina, on her personas: “People can say that Nora’s the serious one and Awkwafina’s this crazy comedy one, but for me, the older I get and the more I [do], they become one. I can’t leave Awkwafina. Awkwafina is a part of me. I didn’t create Nora; I created Awkwafina. So it makes it powerful when I see her name somewhere.”

Renee Zellweger, on the biggest misconception about her: ““h, gosh. I see things sometimes because [my team will] send it along because they want to know if I would like to correct them. Most of the time, I don’t see the point because I feel like it’s not my business to correct how people think. Most of the time I don’t know who that person is — the ‘Renée Zellweger’ in quotations. That’s fine with me.”

'Succession' Gets Renewed by HBO for Season 3!

Succession is getting another season!

The hit HBO series has been renewed for another season by the television channel as of Tuesday (August 20), according to THR.

The third season is expected to air sometime in 2020.

The show is enjoying “solid audience retention” since the premiere of its second season earlier in August, making it “one of HBO’s more high-profile originals in the post-Game of Thrones era.”

“We are elated that Succession and its exploration of wealth, power and family has resonated so powerfully with audiences. We cannot wait to see how the complex characters that Jesse Armstrong has created continue to navigate this captivating, ruthless world of the uber-rich. In today’s world where the intersection of politics and media is increasingly prevalent, Succession presents an especially piercing look behind the curtain of this elite, influential, and cutthroat community,” said HBO exec Francesca Orsi.
