Sheryl Crow Says Her Sons Think She Is 'Super Corny'

Sheryl Crow is getting candid about her life in this new interview.

Here’s what the 55-year-old singer/songwriter had to share with Redbook magazine:

On the classic feel of her new album, Be Myself: “It’s absolutely, unapologetically a return. It’s fun” rockin’, groovin’. With my last record, I wound up spending too many nights away from my kids. I really missed out on things”and I hate that, you can’t get that time back. When I came out of that experience, I felt like, Okay, I want to make a record like I used to: just a couple people in the studio, boom.”

How her two boys turn her music into potty talk: “They take my songs and change them, like ‘Are You Strong Enough to Be My Butt?’ ‘All I Wanna Do Is Fart on You’ is a favorite. They’re super into potty talk. But seriously, I don’t think until this record they thought that much about my music.”

On what her boys think of her day job: “Seeing me work”while knowing that I’m not going away at night”helped them realize that playing music is actually my job. But they think I’m super corny. If I hung out with The Chainsmokers, then they would think I was cool.”

Sheryl Crow Opens Up About How the Presidential Election Affected Her New Album, Says She's 'Lost Faith' in Trump Voters

Sheryl Crow is sharing how the presidential election last year influenced her new music.

The 55-year-old country singer recently opened up about her upcoming album and how Donald Trump winning the presidential election affected her music, even having political references in her new songs.

“I started losing faith and not only for our country, but for the people that voted for him,” Sheryl said via Page Six. “The whole album is very informed by the atmosphere, which is very chaotic, very vitriolic, a lot of fear that was really in the ether while we were making this record.”

Last year, Sheryl joined tons of other artists to tell politicians to stop using their music without their approval.

Sheryl
went on to say that during the election, she tried to shield her sons – Wyatt, 9, and Levi, 6 – from TV and social medias from seeing all of negativity that was being put out there in the media.

“I felt like it was becoming so hateful that I had to watch to make sure my kids didn’t pick up the remote and turn the TV on,” Sheryl said. “We want a healthy future that is secure. And we have to figure out a way to communicate with reason and a modicum of decorum at least.”

Sheryl‘s new album Be Myself is set to be released on April 21.

Usher, Josh Groban & More Demand Politicians Stop Unauthorized Use of Their Songs

Usher, Josh Groban and other musicians are speaking out after politicians have been using music during their conventions without authorization and against their wishes.

The two performers, in addition to Cyndi Lauper, Sheryl Crow, Michael Bolton, John Mellencamp and Imagine Dragons, created a song called “Stop Using Our Songs” for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

“Don’t use our song, ’cause you use it wrong. It might seem appealing, but you’re just stealing…By the time this tune is through, you’ll be lucky if we don’t sue,” some of the lyrics read.
