Shemar Moore on 'Criminal Minds' Finale - Producers Explain Why He Came Back!

Shemar Moore‘s character Derek Morgan was brought back for the 12th season finale of Criminal Minds last night, and now producers are revealing their reasoning why.

“Shemar’s appearance was a sort of a dual purpose,” executive producer Erica Messer said (via EW). “Fans have been missing him, obviously. And we had such a big story line with Dr. Reid all year that would have been great to have him a part of.”

“He got cast in this S.W.A.T. pilot, and we knew if it went to series – and all signs point to yes – we would never to get to use him again. So it felt like now or never,” she added about Shemar‘s new show.

Shemar Moore Responds to Rumors He's Gay, Again

Shemar Moore, best known for his roles on Criminal Minds and The Young and the Restless, has been the subject of false rumors that he is gay for many years.

The 46-year-old actor has addressed the rumors in the past and now he’s opening up about them again after being asked by BET.

“I just think it’s all silly. If you’re gay, you’re gay. I’m not, and I know that and I’m very comfortable with who I am and I love women,” Shemar said. “I’ve dated plenty of them. If you think I’m gay, send your girlfriend over to my house for the weekend and see what happens. For real. You can call that arrogant if you want to. I just call it confident. You can call me whatever you want, but you don’t know me.”

Criminal Minds' Shemar Moore Posts Crypic Video After Co-Star Thomas Gibson's Firing

It seems like Shemar Moore may have thrown some shade at his former Criminal Minds co-star Thomas Gibson.

The 46-year-old actor posted a rather cryptic video about “karma” after Thomas was fired from the show.

“Lot of birdies chirping out there; the gossip is real,” Shemar said in the since-deleted video. “I’ll just say this: I believe in karma. Good things happen to good people. Honest people. Hard-working people. Humble people. People who believe in basic goodness…Treat people how you expect them to treat you. Celebrate yourself and celebrate your blessings, as you should, but just know that you’re not better than anybody.”

Which 'Criminal Minds' Star is Leaving the Show?

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!

Shemar Moore is exiting Criminal Minds after 11 seasons.

The 45-year-old actor’s character Derek decided to leave the Behavioral Analysis Unit to focus on his family, which was revealed in the latest episode.

“It’s a weird experience,” Shemar told THR. “I just spent 11 years with a group of people and it’s a weird thing to walk away from – but I did it on my terms and in the right way.”

He said, “Derek Morgan isn’t walking off because Shemar is done with the show. Derek is walking away because there’s part of his life that’s missing and that he has an opportunity and he risks that every day but he needs to be a dad and experience that and be by his wife.”
