'Zola,' Movie Based on a Viral Twitter Thread, Gets a Trailer - Watch!

Zola is coming!

The film, which was inspired by a viral Twitter thread in 2015, released its first trailer on Wednesday (March 31).

The movie is set to hit theaters on June 30, and was directed by Janicza Bravo and co-written with Jeremy O. Harris.

Here’s a plot summary: “The film centers on the dynamic between the title character, played by newcomer Taylor Paige, and Stefani (Riley Keough). It is based on a 2015 Twitter thread that took the internet by storm despite being only 148 words long. The tweets were by A’ziah King, who was then a 20-year-old Hooters waitress. She wrote about her chance encounter with a stripper and the resulting two-day Florida road-trip bacchanal involving prostitution, murder and a violent pimp known simply as Z.”

The film also stars Nicholas Braun, Ari’el Stachel and Colman Domingo.

Zola had its world premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

Taylour also starred in another recent film that is getting a lot of acclaim.

Riley Keough Reveals She's Now a Death Doula Months After Brother Benjamin's Suicide

Riley Keough has a new job title: death doula.

The 31-year-old actress opened up about her training on social media to fans.

“I guess I’m an almost certified death doula now hehe💫💫✨✨✨✨ And I just felt like writing such a deep thank you to this community who are teaching and training people in conscious dying and death work,” she wrote.

Riley continued, “We are taught that it’s a morbid subject to talk about, or we’re so afraid of it that we’re unable to talk about it…then of course it happens to us, and we are very ill-prepared. I think it’s so important to be educated on conscious dying and death the way we educate ourselves on birth and conscious birthing.”

“We prepare ourselves so rigorously for the entrance and have no preparation for our exit. So I’m so grateful for this community and to be able to contribute what I can.”

Riley started her death doula training shortly after losing her younger brother, Benjamin Keough, to suicide in July 2020.

“Mornings are the hardest. I forget you’re gone. I can’t cry because of the fear that I will never stop. A pain that’s new to me,” she had written just after news broke that Benjamin had died.

Benjamin was laid to rest at Graceland near his grandfather, Elvis Presley, in October.

Dakota Johnson to Star in Limited Series 'Cult Following'!

Dakota Johnson is set to star in a new series.

The 31-year-old Fifty Shades actress will co-executive produce and co-star alongside Riley Keough in an upcoming series based on Bexy Cameron‘s upcoming memoir Cult Following, Deadline reported Thursday (October 29).

Here’s a plot summary, based on Bexy Cameron‘s memoir: “the story follows her as she recounts her upbringing in the notorious cult Children of God. After emancipating herself at the age of 16 and building a life away from the cult, as an adult Cameron (Johnson) embarks on a road trip with a close friend (Keough) to investigate and document contemporary cults existing in America today. Two young women set out on the ‘adventure’ of a lifetime and Cameron’s emphatic, raw and at times incredibly funny experience on the road runs parallel to her examining and processing the psychology and trauma of her own childhood being raised in a cult. It’s a journey of meltdowns, meth cooks, monks, Jesus freaks, soap-making Armageddonists, surveillance vans, ex-Apple employees and finally, Cameron’s confrontation of her parents and ultimately herself.”

“It has been a dream of ours since we launched TeaTime to collaborate with Riley and Gina at Felix Culpa. We are beyond thrilled to join forces and friendship to bring Bexy’s remarkable story to the screen. Alongside Platform One, we look forward to adding the final top notch collaborators to the team,” Dakota and production partner Ro Donnelly said in a statement.

The memoir will be published on July 8, 2021.

At the same time, Dakota is hard at work filming for this upcoming production.
