Meryl Streep Raps About Michelle Obama in Original Song for 'The Prom' Movie - Listen Now!

Meryl Streep is once again getting serious Oscar buzz for her performance in the movie musical The Prom and one of her songs from the film has been released online!

The three-time Oscar-winning actress performs the original song “Wear Your Crown” alongside her many co-stars and she raps in the track!

“Gotta wear your crown or your tiara/Now is the time to bust out the mascara/Who needs shade, there’s nothing dullah,” Meryl raps. “We’re living life in full technicolour/But if your sparkle starts to fade/Go out and start your own parade/And if somebody starts in with new drama/Just go high like Michelle Obama.”

The song was written during post-production because director Ryan Murphy decided the movie needed to “end on a high,” co-songwriter Adam Anders told USA Today.

Adam said they wrote a female-empowerment pop/Broadway hybrid “that would encompass all of the emotions of the film, but wrap it all in an uptempo banger you can dance to. Of course, we had to do this all during COVID, so it all had to happen via Zoom sessions as we were locked down.”

The Prom will premiere on Netflix on December 11!

Amal Clooney Jokes That She & Meryl Streep Were Both Married to George Clooney

Amal Clooney is poking fun at her husband George Clooney‘s on and off-screen romances.

The 42-year-old barrister was awarded the 2020 Gwen Ifill Press Freedom Award during the CPJ International Press Freedom Awards on Thursday (November 19), presented by Meryl Streep.

After being virtually introduced, Amal thanked Meryl for her kind words before pointing out their relationship with Amal‘s husband.

“You are an inspiration as a woman, as an artist, as a press-freedom advocate. I know I can’t ever hope to win the number of awards that you’ve won, but it does occur to me that we have something special in common, which is that we’ve both been married to my husband,” she joked.

“And honestly, the fact that you did it as Mr. and Mrs. Fantastic Fox just makes that so much less awkward,” she went on to say.

If you didn’t know, Meryl and George were characters in the 2009 Wes Anderson animated film, Fantastic Mr. Fox.

George recently revealed the epic prank Brad Pitt played on him that impacted his reputation.

Ariana Grande, Timothee Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio & More Stars to Join Jennifer Lawrence in Netflix's 'Don't Look Up'!

Ariana Grande, Timothee Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio are just some of the many stars boarding Don’t Look Up!

Netflix and Adam McKay are giving previously announced star Jennifer Lawrence so many co-stars in the upcoming ensemble movie, according to Deadline on Wednesday (October 14).

Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry and Tomer Sisley are also joining the cast, which also includes the previously announced Rob Morgan.

Adam will write, direct and co-produce.

The comedy is about “two scientists who discover that a meteor will strike the Earth in six months. They go on a media tour trying to warn the world but find an unreceptive and unbelieving populace.”

“She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite act.’ And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way,” said Adam in a previous statement about booking Jennifer Lawrence.

According to the report, Leonardo had been weighing the project for some time, considering his schedule in filming Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon.

A theatrical release “seems very likely,” but Deadline reports that this film is “a sign of things to come as it is unclear when theaters will fully reopen as more and more movies are either pushing their release dates or move from a studio to a streamer.”
