Megan Thee Stallion Wins Best New Artist At Grammys 2021; Dedicates It To Her Late Mom

Megan Thee Stallion just picked up her second Grammy of the night for Best New Artist!

The 26-year-old rapper won the coveted honor at the 2021 Grammys, which were held on Sunday (March 14) from the Los Angeles Convention Center, and dedicated the win to her late mother who passed away in 2019.

“I always had two plan As. Like, I wasn’t a person who liked to have a plan B. So I was like, ‘I’m going to be a rapper and I’m going to go to school.’ I graduated in the fall, woop, woop. But I just feel like my mom would always say we’re going to be at the GRAMMYs and blah blah blah. Like I would perform at clubs, bars, anywhere I could perform I was there and she would be like, ‘One day we’re gonna be front row…,’ and I would be like, ‘That’s so far away.’ But it came so quickly and I’m just so happy,” she shared in her acceptance speech.

Megan went on, “I know she’s watching down over me. She definitely would be in here crying. We would be crying together, my makeup would be terrible, but I know she’s proud. Her and my dad, so just shout-out to my parents for making me. She really guided me here. This is all dedicated to my mom tonight.”

“I feel like 2020 was crazy for everybody. I know I had a lot going on in 2020 and I just feel like this is a moment where I’m like you know what, you’ve been through it, you went through it, but you made it. I made it through it, now I’m here,” she added. “I’ve already won one GRAMMY. And I’m just so appreciative, like I’m so humbled. I don’t even know what to say, I’m just excited to be here.”

Earlier in the night, Megan won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance for “Savage”. Check out her reaction to that here!

Megan Thee Stallion Is Helping Rebuild Homes in Houston

Megan Thee Stallion is giving back.

The Houston native has partnered with the National Association of Christian Churches (NACC) Disaster Services and U.S. Representative Sheila Jackson Lee to help rebuild her hometown after the winter freeze in Texas, per Billboard.

In February, the blizzard in Texas left millions of residents without water, heat or electricity. After power was restored, many were left without water and with significant damage to their homes.

“Seeing the devastation and hearing the heartbreaking stories that have surfaced, I knew I had to do something to help my hometown,” Megan said in a statement. “I am so happy that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, the NACC and I aligned on the goal of repairing the homes of the elderly and uninsured single moms who are the most vulnerable and often displaced by these kinds of devastating events.”

According to the website, the NACC and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s office will be evaluating referrals and online submissions to provide plumbing, electricity, structural repairs with walls to those in need of assistance.

Some of Megan‘s famous friends and brands have also pledged to help, including “Beautiful Mistakes” collaborator Maroon 5 and “Body” music video co-star Taraji P. Henson as well as Fashion Nova, Dolce and Gabbana and Revlon.

Travis Scott also recently announced he will be providing aid to Houston residents impacted by the storm.
