Lisa Kudrow Shares Exciting Update About Upcoming 'Friends' Reunion!

Lisa Kudrow has an update on the highly-anticipated Friends reunion!

During her interview on Rob Lowe‘s podcast Literally! With Rob Lowe, the 57-year-old actress gave an update on production plans for the special heading to HBO Max.

Back in February 2020, it was announced that the entire Friends cast – Lisa, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry – had signed on for an unscripted reunion for their hit show.

However, because of the ongoing pandemic, plans for shooting the special kept getting postponed.

“We’re going to shoot that in the spring,” Lisa reveled to Rob. “Early spring.”

She also revealed that she has already shot something for the special.

“I pre-shot something for it already,” Lisa added. “So we’re definitely doing it because I already shot a little something.”

Lisa
also wanted to make it very clear that the special is “not a reboot.”

“It’s not like a scripted thing,” Lisa explained. “We’re not portraying our characters. It’s us getting together, which doesn’t happen a lot and has never happened in front of other people since 2004, when we stopped [filming Friends].”

During another recent interview, Lisa Kudrow explained why she doesn’t watch Friends re-runs.

Netflix's 'Death To 2020' Mockumentary With Hugh Grant Adds Samuel L. Jackson, Leslie Jones, Lisa Kudrow & More

Hugh Grant has been joined by a ton of amazing actors in Netflix’s upcoming comedy special from the creators of Black Mirror, called Death to 2020.

The 60-year-old Undoing star, who opened up about his own character in the show just recently, will star alongside Lisa Kudrow, Samuel L. Jackson and Leslie Jones.

Joe Keery, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracey Ullman, Cristin Milioti, and Samson Kayo will be part of the upcoming special as well, Deadline reports.

While details of their characters have not been released, Hugh shared that he plays “a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.”

Here’s the summary for Death to 2020: “2020: A year so [insert adjective of choice here], even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make it up…but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a little something to add. Death To 2020 is a comedy event that tells the story of the dreadful year that was — and perhaps still is? This landmark documentary-style special weaves together some of the world’s most (fictitious) renowned voices with real-life archival footage spanning the past 12 months.”

Hugh is also pictured below, shopping for a Christmas Tree with his family in London over the weekend.

The star-studded event took place on September 13, 2010 at what was then called Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Lisa Kudrow Explains Why She Doesn't Watch 'Friends' Reruns

Lisa Kudrow says that she does not watch Friends reruns and she’s opening up about the good reason why she avoids them.

In a new Actors on Actors feature for Variety, Lisa and co-star Jennifer Aniston interviewed each other and talked about working on Friends.

“I don’t watch the show. I’m still not watching it in the hopes that one day we sit down and watch them together,” Lisa said.

Jennifer replied and said, “That’s something that will happen.”

While talking about her time on the show, Lisa said that she has a “commitment issue” following acting on Friends.

“It’s not like, ‘Oh, it was such hard work for 10 years.’ It’s not that. It was that I know that show worked because we all committed to each other too. It wasn’t just committing to a role, committing to a contract. We all still love each other. Our cast is like that, and that’s why that worked. I think part of me died. I can’t do that again,” she said.

Lisa did say there’s one thing that she does like watching when it comes to Friends.
