Lee Pace hit Stephen Colbert‘s couch on The Late Show last night (August 16), and screwed up the simplest elven greeting from Lord Of The Rings!

The 40-year-old actor played elf king Thranduil in The Hobbit movies and tried his best to impress Stephen – who is one of the most vocal celebrity Lord of the Rings die-hard fans – with a proper greeting from when Frodo greeted Gildor Inglorien on his way out of the Shire in The Fellowship Of The Ring.

“It’s not surprising that you might have trouble saying that,” Stephen quipped after his attempt, “because your character Thranduil is Sindar, and that sentence is actually Quenya which is the Noldorian elves language, not the Sindar elves language. You speak Sindaran, not Quenya, so it’s totally understandable.”

Lee Pace later dished about his lead role in the John DeLorean biopic, Driven.

Earlier this week, Stephen Colbert geeked out to Cate Blanchett over her role in The Lord of the Rings.

Lee Pace came out as a proud “member of the queer community” last year and now he’s opening up about growing up in that community.

The 40-year-old actor opened up while discussing his Broadway play Angels in America in Variety‘s The Big Ticket with Marc Malkin podcast.

Lee never experienced the danger that his character Joe Pitt did in the play.

“I’ve always felt very safe, you know? I was in the drama department in high school. I went to Julliard. I’ve been playing queer characters. My first movie I played a trans character,” Lee said. “I’ve never felt the danger of that, you know? So, to walk in the shoes of someone who that danger is so real that he can’t utter it, it taught me something about myself and about my community… We’re not all so lucky to get the free pass in life.”

“As a community, we can be very unkind to each other, I feel like. It’s very judgmental to kind of look at someone and [think] you oughta do it like this… there’s a more gentle way to be and I guess before I played Joe, I could look at that character on the page and think, ‘What a coward.’ After playing him, I don’t see a ‘coward.’ He had a journey. I see someone who did something that was very hard to do,” Lee added.

The 43-year-old Sleeping with Other People actor, the 44-year-old Archer actress, and the 40-year-old Halt and Catch Fire actor hit the red carpet at the event held at ArcLight Hollywood on Monday (July 29) in Hollywood.

They were joined by their co-stars Iddo Goldberg, Asher Miles Fallica, Tyler Crumley, and director Nick Hamm.

Also in attendance were Fear the Walking Dead‘s Maggie Grace, Grey’s Anatomy‘s Kim Raver, and Iddo‘s wife, The Umbrella Academy‘s Ashley Madekwe.

Driven is an intense thriller where politics, big business, and narcotics collide. Don’t miss it when it hits theaters on August 16!

Bill Murray, Chloe Sevigny, and Adam Driver hit the red carpet at the premiere of their new movie The Dead Don’t Die on Monday night (June 10) at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

The three actors lead the ensemble cast in the new Jim Jarmusch-directed movie, in theaters June 14.

The 29-year-old Oscar winner hit the red carpet at the event on Monday night (March 4) in Hollywood, Calif.

The second trailer for the upcoming Marvel movie Captain Marvel has arrived and it looks so epic!

The new trailer features Brie Larson, Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, Annette Bening, and the rest of the cast of the highly anticipated film.

Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s and follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

The film hits theaters on March 8 and also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, and Clark Gregg.
