A source is speaking out about the rumored reason why Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich have not filed for divorce yet.

“Julianne has had a hard time recently and is in a funk. The lockdown has brought up all sorts of stuff for her,” an insider shared with E! News. “Brooks is very much ready to move on and to be officially divorced. His friends and family have rallied around him and he is ready for the next chapter.”

The insider added, “They planned to file for divorce and he is ready, but he is giving her some time and space. They aren’t getting back together, but she is struggling.”

The couple announced their split in late May. There’s a reason fans thought they might be separating back when the lockdowns first started.

Brooks Laich and his estranged wife Julianne Hough announced their breakup just over a week ago and now he’s opening up about his desire to have kids one day.

The 36-year-old former hockey player opened up during the latest episode of his podcast How Men Think, which was released on Sunday (June 7).

Brooks, co-host Gavin DeGraw, and guest Scott Evans were discussing racism in America and Brooks talked about how he hopes the world will be a better place when his kids are growing up.

“It’s important to me. I hope to be a father one day,” he said. “I hope to have the world be a better place for them … one day.”

One year ago, Brooks had revealed that he and Julianne were going through the IVF process to increase their odds of becoming parents.

This is the first time that the 31-year-old entertainer has been spotted out in public after she and husband Brooks Laich announced last week that they are separating after nearly three years of marriage.

In the days since the announcement, sources have been speaking out about what happened in their marriage.

“She is a deeply different person than she was when they got married, and she is proud of those differences and changes she’s made and she doesn’t want to go back,” a source close to Julianne told People. “He is the man he is, and he shouldn’t change a thing.”

A source close to Brooks added that he “was determined to make it work, but he was constantly questioning what changes he needed to make for Julianne to be happy. He was fighting with this for months and it was very hard for him to let go of his marriage.”

“I wasn’t even married and it was so hard to break up with my exes, so I get that,” she added. “All I want to say to Julianne is that I love you and I support you. Anything you need, I’m right here. I’m your sister, always. Judges sisters!”

Last month, Brooks revealed that he’s isolating in Idaho with his dog and he explained why he and Julianne are apart at this time.

Sources told E! News that the couple hasn’t made a decision about the future of their marriage as of now.

“They continue to spend time apart and are doing their own thing. They are still in contact and have not committed to any future decisions,” the source said. “They are happy doing it this way and will see what happens.”

“They have so much love for one another and just want to make sure the other one is at their best and the happiest they can be,” the source added. “They are staying present and in the moment. This is the way it looks for right now.”
