Jim Parsons appears on stage alongside Iain Armitage while presenting at the 2017 Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (September 17) in Los Angeles.

The guys both play the role of Sheldon Cooper – Jim on The Big Bang Theory and Iain on the upcoming spinoff series Young Sheldon.

Iain also had a big role on an Emmy-nominated show. He played Shailene Woodley‘s son on Big Little Lies, which picked up the award for Outstanding Limited Series.

Jim Parsons is joined on stage by his younger counterpart Iain Armitage at the Young Sheldon panel during the 2017 TCA Summer Press Tour on Tuesday (August 1) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Iain is playing the younger version of Jim‘s character on The Big Bang Theory on the upcoming CBS comedy series.

“We have a lot more in common now than I would have had at the same age. I wasn’t mature enough at 9,” Jim said about Iain. “I was not an overly bright child. I was mediocre. I didn’t befuddle my parents. That came much later, with my sexuality. Iain is much more in control as a human being than I was.”

“I’m not sure that’s true,” Iain added, according to USA Today.

Also in attendance was Zoe Perry, who is playing the younger version of Sheldon’s mom Mary, a character played by her real-life mom Laurie Metcalf on The Big Bang Theory.

Tony Romo makes his first big post-retirement appearance!

The 37-year-old former Cowboys quarterback, who is now a commentator for CBS Sports, attended the 2017 CBS Upfronts on Wednesday (May 17) in New York City.

He was joined by other stars on the network, including James Corden, Jeremy Piven, David Boreanaz, David Walton, Elliot Gould, Gayle King, Iain Armitage, Julie Chen, Mark Feuerstein, Max Thierot, Monica Potter, Shemar Moore, and Alex Russell.

Tony will serve alongside Jim Nantz and broadcast commentary during NFL games next season.

Here’s your first look at Big Little Lies star Iain Armitage as young Sheldon Cooper in Young Sheldon, a new show coming to CBS based off of Jim Parsons‘ The Big Bang Theory character.

The show will tell the story of Sheldon, a 9-year-old genius living with his family in East Texas and going to high school. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn’t always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him.

Zoe Perry will star on the show as Mary, Sheldon’s mom.

CBS has officially ordered the upcoming series Young Sheldon, a spin-off of the hit series The Big Bang Theory.

Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of the beloved character, will narrate the series and young actor Iain Armitage will play the lead role on the new show.

Iain is best known for playing Shailene Woodley‘s son on the HBO series Big Little Lies and for his YouTube video reviews of Broadway shows.

Young Sheldon follows Sheldon Cooper at the age of 9, living with his family in East Texas and going to high school. Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan will also star.

Jim and his partner Todd Spiewak are executive producing the series with Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro.
