In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (February 2), the 45-year-old actress opened up about reconnecting with her ex after not speaking with him for 15 years. Their emotional conversation aired on The Drew Barrymore Show in September.
Drew explained to Jimmy, “There were no questions prepared for that. I had an offline conversation with him because we didn’t want it to be some bougie Hollywood moment, like, ‘Let’s reconnect in front of the cameras.’”
Drew and Tom began dating after she reached out to him about starring in Charlie’s Angels. They got engaged in July 2000 and married a year later. They ended up splitting in December 2001.
“The thing I love about Tom is he is one of the first people to put a camera on his life, when it was a giant, fat camcorder and there were no easy phones available,” Drew told Jimmy. “His stuff was on VHS, I remember watching his VHS tapes. It’s what gave me the idea, because I just said, ‘Gosh, would you just want to reconnect? It’s been a long time and I would just love to honor what you did. You broke down all these doors, you were a pioneer. And I would love to talk about it and have it be an excuse for us to say hello.’”
“That’s the tone,” Drew continued. “I sent him a video and then he sent me one back. And immediately, he made me laugh and that’s my kryptonite, laughter.”

The two stars both talked about their families’ reactions to the steamy love scenes in their new Netflix series Bridgerton.
Phoebe said that she actually watched the show with her grandparents, but mainly so that she could fast forward through all of those scenes!
“Yes, I did but only because, and I find it really hard to watch myself, but I had to if they were going to watch it. So I had to stand there with the remote ready at any given point to fast forward for them not to see any of the things I didn’t want them to see,” Phoebe said. “We got through it. It was PG-13 for my grandparents.”
Phoebe also discussed the fan reactions. She said, “I think we were really excited about the fans of the books being able to see the show and that’s who I was thinking about the whole time like, ‘Oh Gosh we have a real Bridgerton fan base that loves the books,’ and the fact that it has spoken to such a wider audience and we’ve brought so many people into this exciting world it’s crazy but just to know we’ve given people joy in this really weird time.”
Drew Barrymore is opening up about what happened after she decided to sign up for a celebrity dating app.
The 45-year-old actress and talk show host revealed that she was actually stood up!
“I booked a date with one guy, finally. He stood me up at the exact time we were supposed to meet,” she shared on The Drew Barrymore Show this week. “And I was like, ‘Can’t you be a jerk like an hour before?’ That would have been such a time saver.”
Drew added, “I know that happens all the time…I felt so stupid.”
“There are big, high-powered men and of course, I didn’t go for any of those. I never have! I was like, oh, the comedy writer, that sounds fun,” she shared about the celeb only app, and added that she did compare herself to other women on the site more than she liked.
Drew said, “At the same time, I’m like, you know what, this is my body. I made two babies. I’m working with what I’ve got…You know what, screw it. I love these women in Victoria’s Secret campaigns. I love these women on this app and I’m not going to compare myself to them.”
Neil was a guest on The Drew Barrymore Show on Wednesday (December 9) and David popped in for a few minutes of the virtual interview.
Drew revealed that she was once on a flight with David when her kids were acting out. He gave her some advice that changed her life forever.
“David, I really just have to say thank you again because you are so near and dear to my heart. I had a really bad flight with my kids, they were both acting out, you know 2-years-old and 3-years-old, and you are always that person on the plane just so horrified you are the one ruining everyone else’s flight,” Drew said. “And you told me, you were like, ‘I’ve been through it too, this is normal, you are doing a good job. It’s okay, try to take the stress out of your body. People aren’t as upset as you probably are projecting that they are.’”
Drew continued, “And you changed my life that day because I flew with my children everywhere all the time, I took them all over the place. And you changed flying for me because I was always so stressed and embarrassed. So thank you.”
David replied, “I’m so happy because we’ve all been there. We’ve had that crying child and you think you’re so horrified that you have this crying child that everybody is looking at you. I’m so glad you got through it. You did it with ease.”
“You contributed to one parent that was really freaking out and it’s just hard to be a parent with two kids and you just want to make it okay for everyone else and weirdly not many people are making it okay for you in that moment and that’s what you did and I will never forget it for the rest of my life, and in fact I will always pay it forward,” Drew said in response.
Adam and Drew have been frequent collaborators over the years, starring in three movies together (so far) with 1998′s The Wedding Singer, 2004′s 50 First Dates and 2014′s Blended.
“It was so much fun to make a movie with you in every of the last three decades,” Drew said to Adam, as they both appeared virtually to accept the award.
The two then teased that it might be time for them to do another movie together!
“Yes, yes, and Drew, it’s 2020 so you know what that means…” said Adam, as Drew replied, “Everything sucks?”
“Yeah, that’s true — but also, it’s a new decade so we get to make another movie together,” Adam said, to which Drew agreed: “Right, well let’s wait until we find something amazing, we do have 10 years.”
Adam then corrected: “Nine years and one month.”
“You’re right,” Drew then said. “Well, that’s not enough time. I don’t know, it doesn’t matter — it has to be special.”

The Drew Barrymore Show is under fire for the dream wedding they threw on the show for a frontline nurse named Selina and a high school teacher named Dan. Their wedding was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
However, many are pointing out in the comments of the YouTube video that Dan was actually Selina‘s teacher in high school and allege their relationship began when she was underage.
Comments on the YouTube page include, ” It would be a great story if it was actually true. They met ‘in school’ because she was his student. The mutual friends was the physics class he taught.”
“Wow, ‘We met in school through mutual friends’ is a very creative way of saying your relationship started when he was your teacher in high school. Could CBS not find a couple whose relationship didn’t begin completely inappropriately? I just hope he’s more observant of his marriage vows than he was of the law when he started dating her….” another commenter added.
