Cynthia Erivo Covers Mariah Carey's 'Hero' as a Tribute to Frontline Workers (Video)

Cynthia Erivo performed a beautiful cover of Mariah Carey‘s classic song “Hero” as part of the 2020 National Memorial Day Concert!

The Oscar-nominated actress said that the song is “dedicated to all the new heroes fighting the frontlines of the COVID-19 virus.”

On Instagram, Cynthia added, “Their life lives in our memory and gives us our breath. Thank you #MemDayPBS for allowing me to honor ALL of our heroes.”

The concert aired on PBS this weekend and Cynthia also performed the song “Bridge Over Troubled Water” during the telecast.

“For our heroes; thank you for your strength and perseverance, it is perpetual,” Cynthia wrote as the caption for the second video. You can watch them all below!

A ton of stars came together online to sit around a virtual Seder table with music and comedy to raise funds for the CDC Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund for Tasty on Saturday (April 11).

A Star-Studded 'Saturday Night Seder' Will Be Streaming Tonight!

A star-studded roster of celebrities will be participating in an online Passover Seder tonight!

While they’re quarantined at home, celebs like Ben Platt, Idina Menzel, Cynthia Erivo, Billy Porter, and many more will be coming together on the fourth night of Passover.

Oscar, Grammy, and Tony-winning songwriter Benj Pasek teamed up with Broadway actor Adam Kantor a few years ago to reimagine the Passover story and they teamed up with a more writers to put together a fun, virtual experience for fans.

Madam Secretary actor Erich Bergen, who successfully produced the return of The Rosie O’Donnell Show last month, is helping produce this event as well.

The star-studded lineup also includes Pamela Adlon, Jason Alexander, Skylar Astin, Shoshana Bean, Mayim Bialik, Rachel Brosnahan, D’Arcy Carden, Andy Cohen, Darren Criss, Fran Drescher, Billy Eichner, Beanie Feldstein, Harvey Fierstein, Tan France, Ilana Glazer, Josh Groban, Richard Kind, Nick Kroll, Dan Levy, Judith Light, Camryn Manheim, Milo Manheim, Debra Messing, Busy Philipps, Henry Winkler, Finn Wolfhard, and many more.

Saturday Night Seder will take place TONIGHT (April 11) at 8pm ET on YouTube. Viewers are encouraged to donate to the CDC Foundation’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.

See Cynthia Erivo as Aretha Franklin In Brand New Image From 'Genius'

Cynthia Erivo looks so much like Aretha Franklin in this brand new image from the upcoming season of Genius.

The new pic shows the actress on stage in 1967 at the Regal Theater in Chicago performing “Save Me” with her sisters Carolyn (Rebecca Naomi Jones) and Erma (Patrice Covington) supporting her.

The image was released in celebration of what would’ve been the singer’s 78th birthday.

National Geographic is also making a donation to Feeding America in her name, in recognition of the difficult times we are currently in.

The series will explore the legendary singer’s life and musical genius as well as the immeasurable impact and lasting influence she has had on music and culture around the world.

Genius: Aretha will premiere on Monday, May 25 and air over four consecutive at 9 p.m. on National Geographic.

Ahead of Super Tuesday, W Magazine released a PSA urging people to register to vote in the upcoming coming election cycle on Wednesday (February 26).

The message is clear: regardless of political affiliation, it’s never been more important to register and vote.

Cynthia Erivo and Jamie Foxx hit the red carpet as they arrive at the 2020 American Black Film Festival Honors Awards Ceremony on Sunday (February 23) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 33-year-old Tony-award winning actress donned a pretty purple dress while the 52-year-old Oscar-winning actor looked sharp in a black tux for the awards event.
