'24: Legacy' Comic-Con 2016 Panel Addresses Jack Bauer Cameo Questions!

Corey Hawkins and Miranda Otto walk the press line for the Fox Action Showcase for their show 24: Legacy during 2016 Comic-Con held at the San Diego Convention Center on Sunday (July 24) in San Diego, Calif.

The pair were joined by their co-star Jimmy Smits.

“This is an expansion of the ’24′ universe, not a reboot – Jack and Chloe are still out there,” executive producer Manny Coto said during the panel. “This is a window into the ’24′ universe from a new perspective…You never know when those worlds might intersect.” Some fans are taking that to mean that Kiefer Sutherland could make a cameo!

When asked if he could come back, producers responded, “anything is possible…We felt like the London series with Kiefer was a momentary punctuation point for that character. Our plan right now is to tell this story, and I think all of us really want to finish that story, but we also love this new and exciting version of it.”

FYI: Corey is wearing a J Brand t-shirt and Call It Spring shoes. Miranda is wearing Black Halo.

Corey Hawkins Teases the New Hero in '24: Legacy'

Jimmy Smits, Corey Hawkins, and Miranda Otto sit down together for an interview at SiriusXM’s broadcast during 2016 Comic-Con on Saturday (July 23) at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, Calif.

The cast of the new Fox series 24: Legacy was joined by executive producers Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow to discuss the show.

Corey and Miranda both were in attendance at the Entertainment Weekly party later that night, as well as the Fox Fanfare Party the night before. Producer Evan Katz joined the stars at the Fox party as well.

24: Legacy will premiere after the Super Bowl in February and it follows Army Ranger Eric Carter as he is put into a federal protection program with his wife after a successful mission overseas with CTU, the counterintelligence unit of the original 24 series.

“You find him in a good place. He has his wife, he’s a civilian now,” Corey told USA Today about his character. “You’ve got this guy trying to adjust to what life is (now) and then the past comes back” as his mission colleagues and their families start to be killed.

Corey Hawkins to Play Male Lead on Fox's '24: Legacy'

Corey Hawkins will be playing the hero on the upcoming Fox series 24: Legacy.

The 27-year-old actor is best known for his work in last year’s acclaimed movie Straight Outta Compton and his role on The Walking Dead.

Corey will play military hero Eric Carter and the series “chronicles his return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil. Coming from a very rough background, Carter turned his life around in the Army Rangers but now, back home in Virginia with his wife Nicole, he’s pulled back into action as his past comes looking for him,” according to Deadline.

Kiefer Sutherland will not return to the series to play Jack Bauer and there will be a strong female lead added to the cast. While none of the original 24 cast members are expected to appear in the reboot, they may be mentioned and photos of them may be shown.
